Another young deputy cut down on the highway while she stood her post. Deputy Erika Serrato was just 24. She had already given six years to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas. Started in the jail, only been on patrol about six months. Early this morning she was out on I-45 North near the Woodlands Parkway exit directing traffic at a multi-vehicle crash scene. Deputies were working what looked like a DWI wreck, lights flashing, when a heavy commercial truck pulling a trailer came through and took her out along with the patrol cars. She died at the hospital. Another deputy got hit with debris. This is the evil we keep seeing. Drunk drivers spark the chaos and then some rig operator treats a scene full of blue lights and flares like it is open road. Cops stand out there in the dark so the rest of us don’t pile up and so investigations actually happen. Too many behind the wheel act like those lights are suggestions and a badge means open season. Montgomery County lost family today. Flags are at half staff. The sheriff called it like it is. Governor Abbott made it official. Deputy Serrato chose the badge when plenty of folks are busy tearing down the ones who actually show up. She paid the full price doing it. Rest easy, young lady. Your watch is over. The thin blue line just got thinner, but it holds because of ones like her.

I used to post 5–6 times a week highlighting the types of illegal aliens ICE was arresting. After Mullin took over, I quickly noticed a sharp drop in email notifications from DHS. I eventually stopped sharing the few updates we still received, because it became clear that ICE is now only arresting illegal aliens after they’ve committed more serious crimes. In effect, we have to wait for victims to be created before action is taken. ICE is making fewer arrests.

Just a few years ago I would visit DC and all the shops were boarded up. No one would go outside after dark. It was drab, downright scary. Crazy people ran the streets after they looted every major vendor. Now, Trump has completely remade the city. Restored law and order and made it a place to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our great nation. Elections matter a lot.

I marvel at the keyboard warrior-geniuses and grifters who are ignorant of Senate rules and precedents who have miraculously become experts in its arcane rules. Promising the moon and stars and yet destining Republicans for failure is a very effective way to demoralize our base and elect more Democrats in the midterms.

The destruction of DEI is the great depoliticization of the American military. Obama and Biden politicized our military, and Trump and Hegseth are undoing that disaster. That's why all the retired GOFOs and the self-appointed strategists are losing their minds over Hegseth cleaning up the senior officer ranks--it was that very politicization that gave them power.
