@Hozelock just wanted to let you know that your product is without question the worst, most kink prone hose I have ever used. You had one job……

@cjb_twit @MrRoryReid Yes, you can typically expect 20-25% annual depreciation whatever car you buy. In the very long term an EV will be cheaper to own, but with much higher up front EV prices, the break even EV-ICE is years down the road, encouragingly that gap is narrowing.

@LysterGR @MrRoryReid What is the cost of a used BMW, Audi, Ford, Fiat? All cars start high and end low. Tesla is a mid to premium high-performance car. It's depreciation is not too different to ICE, but far cheaper to run. Lifetime cost of ownership is most certainly Lower overall.

How much does it cost to run the Tesla Model Y? It’s done 10,893 miles, using 2,622kWh of electricity at a cost of £0.07 per kWh. Total cost for 10,893 miles and 16 months of motoring: £183.54. That’s £2.86 a week in fuel. INSANE.

@MrRoryReid Could do, but on a like for like car for car comparison, ICE models still make more sense for me. The gap EV-ICE is defo narrowing year by year, & I 100% want to go EV, but I reckon at current rate of change, that’s 5ish years away.

@LysterGR Get a model 3 then - £14k. Or a Model S at £13K. The Y isn’t doing anything magic.

@KateFantom Let me guess, the £1,200 quote was from a franchised Renault dealer, yes? A few years ago my father in law was quoted over £4k by a franchised dealer to sort electrical gremlins on an Audi A8, the issue was a 95p fuse!!!!

Here's a real issue we are seeing time and time again. I did a repair on a local ladies Renault Zoe today. She'd been quoted £1203 to have a 'Danger Electrical Failure' warning lamp issue resolved, a new door hinge, a water ingress issue resolved and 2 x TPMS sensors. What it actually needed was; - Coolant pump run time reset - Driver's door realigned - Tyres inflated and a TPMS reset - Scuttle drain off unblocking. It took 1h 45 minutes and I charged her £150, she gave me £200. It needs to change.

Below are 2 pictures. The first is the cost to run a diesel vehicle, averaging 50mpg, (above UK average) over 150,000 miles. This is taken from the linked website below. The second is our annual charging cost (home and public) taken from Quickbooks. This is to run 3 electric vehicles over 50,000 miles each, totaling the 150k of the diesel car above. In short, we could run 6 EV's for less than the cost of one diesel. I probably shouldn't add the maintanace saving 😳 fleetnews.co.uk/costs/fuel-cos…

@campbellclaret Horrendous story, I can relate, I’m a photographer based in Cambridge and I’ve had to shell out over £800 for a 12 month carnet document so I can take my cameras with me for jobs in the EU. And each overseas trip now involves 4 visits to customs.

Read this thread and weep (then get angry) at the utter folly of Brexit seen through the eyes of a family firm being ruined by its red tape consequences Remember - that was the stuff Brexit was going to get rid of. Never forget. Never forgive the liars who created this self-harm
Henningham Family Press@HenninghamPress

Time is money. If it takes twice as long to do something you earn half as much. This is the brutal fact at the heart of Brexit. Let’s "Brexit" a £12.99 paperback, blow by blow, and see what difference leaving the single market has made.

You can go on @AutoTrader_UK today and buy a 200-mile real-world range EV for £20,000. That’s a lot of money for most people, but that’s about the average price of a used car in the UK. Maybe we will see £20,000 hydrogen or e-fuel cars. But when? 2040? 2050? Time we do not have.

@LysterGR @mrmarshallob @AutoTrader_UK Eh? Auto Trader lists circa 450-500k cars at any one time, with average days in stock being around 30 days. As you know, the 8m figure is for annual UK used car sales. You’re not comparing equivalent figures.

@au_tom_otive @mrmarshallob @AutoTrader_UK Autotrader’s numbers are based on what’s been advertised on their website, which is almost totally dealer stock. They list maybe 500k cars, the UK used care market is circa 8m units. RMIF or one of the trade bodies might be able to help you with more realistic numbers.

@mrmarshallob @LysterGR @AutoTrader_UK Nearly £18,000 in May, Gordon. If that’s not sufficiently close to £20k, then I’m happy to find you plenty of examples of 200-mile range EVs for less than £20k, since I was actually being conservative.

So I made it to the conference in Stockholm with my ATA Carnet documents for my gear stamped by UK customs on the way out and Swedish customs on the way in to the EU. The process ate an extra 30 minutes at Heathrow and 45 minutes in Stockholm. #brexit #eventprofs #photographer

If this scene at Heathrow T5 this morning is any kind of barometer for the vibrancy of global Britain, I think someone needs to light a fire under the Department for Trade.
