هر بار که اینترنت ایران مسدود می‌شود، برای فعالان سیاسی خارج از کشور، تنفس دشوار می‌شود. هر بار که اینترنت ایران قطع می‌شود، نتیجه میلیونها دلاری که ج.ا. خارج از ایران خرج کرده را به چشم می‌بینیم‌. این فاندهای عظیمی که در چهار دهه گذشته در بیرون از ایران هزینه شده، حالا تبدیل به صدها مرجع رسانه‌ای شده که هر بار اینترنت ایران مسدود می‌شود، تمام‌قد به میدان می‌آیند برای جعل صدای مردم ایران. عربده‌هایی که در سه ماه گذشته گوش فلک را کر کرده بودند حالا بدل به زوزه‌هایی می‌شوند که در لابلای فریاد شما دیگر به گوش نمی‌رسند.

I'm sure the media would spin your success as garbage no matter what. On that we agree. And people like me who supported a very tough stance on Iran--its nuclear issue, its ballistic missiles and drones, and support for terrorist proxies--would all have your back, publicly and loudly. The issue is that the current regime in Iran has done nothing remotely close to your hypothetical statement below. Instead, they have rejected every deal that you tell us is 95% done. Clearly Iran hasn't internalized any form of defeat the US and Israel have delivered and it doesn't behave as a regime seeking capitulation, if not compromise. The first phase or MoU you appear to be contemplating involves releasing billions of dollars to Iran just to get the Strait of Hormuz open, which you assured us was part of the original ceasefire deal. So we would be giving up important leverage and cementing the regime just for a return to where we were before the war. We need that leverage for a substantive deal on all the above areas (Nuclear, Ballistic Missiles, Terrorists, etc). A substantive deal on Iran's nuclear program is far less likely to happen once they've cashed in on the MoU. Giving Qatar our blessing to enrich the IRGC should be rejected immediately. In the meantime, your comms team is treating those of us who have supported you like Ben Rhodes' echo chamber. Except at least Obama showed the echo chamber what deal they were supposed to lie about. It is distressing that every clarification, backgrounder, or leak from your administration or from the Middle East contains Obama-era language and doesn't clarify any of the fine points, beyond creating anxiety that your administration is desperate for a deal. I'd have your back, loudly and proudly, if you deliver the deal you've said you'd accept. But we aren't there now and every day that passes convinces the regime in Iran that we lack the stomach to do what is necessary kinetically.
