Story time: I helped organize one of the first RA unions in the country. I’ve forgotten more union songs than McKee ever knew. When I showed up here, I got snubbed in a way that was astonishingly disrespectful given how pro-worker I am. Half my fights with the McKee administration - really the left overs from the Gina administration - were over worker safety. But I told myself, “Fair enough. They don’t know me.” I comforted myself by saying the leadership and the membership aren’t the same thing. In the end, it’s about the party and the polls. Power for bosses with soft hands. It’s weird finding myself tonight wanting to comfort McKee, but I know what that kind of betrayal feels like when you’ve given a group everything and believe in what they do. I’m sorry. They’ll say they’re protecting their members. They’re really protecting their access. And, I don’t remember a goddamn union song with that in the lyrics. @DanMcKeeRI
