Friday night game night @MAYGnft here in Bangkok. Bringing back the LAN experience 🥰

The biggest problem with web3 game design is that everyone thinks it's just a number of simple single fixes. Essentially what everyone is saying is that if you follow this or that 'checklist', everything will work. Then it doesn't and then you have 2 camps of, its not possible or they're incompetent, but after more failures everyone in this space just says, it's not possible. Nearly no one I've spoken to in the space has a comprehensive 1st principles system approach to this. I don't even think anyone even knows what that means here. Two root principles are true in web3 gaming: 1. there are multiple critical systems in web3. 2. all of them have their own root principle and all of them are extremely advanced. Then the design work of putting that system together is where most games haven't even attempted. I'll give you an example: (a) Was Axie Infinity successful? Yes, but in which system worked? (b) Axie Infinity did fail. But in what part of the system did they fail? Even with 22 steps to create and field an Axie team from scatch, no Steam, no distribution, no real marketing - they created this market. So why am I mentioning Axie Infinity, a product of 2021? Because no one ever bothered to just try to solve those (a) and (b) points from a system's perspective, not even Axie themselves. All this time, 99.9% of web3 gaming projects were not trying to solve those initial problems, but just apply a simple fix. If I take SpaceX for instance. Every single private attempt at commercial rockets failed, or even, Tesla with EV. Why did only Elon succeed and create the industry? We all know, he is a first principles thinker. For rockets (very simply put), on an economic basis he realized they need to be reusable. |For EV, they needed to perform better current cars and also have the recharging infrastructure. But even with those simple points, how many systems would it take to accomplish those first root principles? Many. After 4.5 years, still the same crap gets said, over and over again, and KOLs and traders, think they have the answer, and they don't then they get screwed on another project and then leave. I never see the right questions being asked, like from anyone, KOLs, founders, or traders. I think it's part of a lack of experience, the assumption that market speculation can solve the problems anyway, and, an assumption that all our opinions are somewhat equal. *** I love being in web3 gaming, because this is the most difficult form of game design ever. I continue to be in the space, because of that challenge. Even after all these years, those closest to me in this space, still have no clue as to what the real system design of @maygnft is. I get why - if it is multiple complex systems, the game only works when all those systems are fully live working in sync. So I don't bother trying to explain, but man, getting to the finish line is such a grind. lol. But also, even they have no clue what the first principles here are anyway. I'll end here though and say, our game that has now taken 4.5 years of design and dev, is nothing more than solving what had yet to be solved from the case of Axie Infinity. If you doubt that logic, think about this, from Axie till now, was there even one that came close to what Axie did? No. Axie was so successful that even now they still have enough funds to build while every other attempt (no matter how successful it seemed) is just dust. The issue has been, no one really bother to understand the Axie case at a systems level, including Axie themselves. If you're brave enough to comment and give your take on it, I won't bother to explain it, but I'll rate your response out of 10. And to there other games still building out there, don't bother saying 'but we have', at this point, we all gotta put out or just die. And it's better you just die quietly. 😅 But respect, if you're in this for the challenge.

Im on location for our @MAYGnft retreat. A founder hard at work.

Had a fantastic dinner with the legendary Franck Muller, and yes, he loves @MAYGnft 🥰 Fight for love ❤️

At the heart of MAYG isn't a game. It's a love letter of gaming that is experimental, ridiculous, competitive and revolutionary in its scope to create an open economy game. That's really hard to see with just a cursory glance at our core game and applying the current gaming lens of what is right or expected. As a web3 game, the tokens and NFTs are not just features, but is what is the foundation for our economy. Along with the expansion of the IP and puts the player firmly at the center of the game at all levels. To make the gameplay, the mechanics, balance and revenue model to make that actually work as designed, it's as hard as it gets, but also a beautiful vision, a forever game. Game dev is hard, it's technically hard, it's frustrating because every unexpected thing happens and until you get to a point where the game is optimized, all the core features are stable, and most of all, it really has to speak at a cultural identity level to the player. This represents years of our developer's lives and all their hopes and dreams. Games are cultural works of art that are social, interactive and exciting with the added expectation that there is something to drive a player to come back to that game over and over. No other art form has such a high expectation. Finish a book or TV series, the work is done, but you're never really finished a game until you've done everything you can to get to that expectation. Then make it multiplayer and competitive and an open economy, you're looking a live ops, dev ops, token ops, along with the opportunity to expand it's IP and ecosystem scope. As we get closer to releasing our second last soft launch build, we're still at least a month out from our official hard launch date for a feature complete core game to be the foundation of the entire open economy. No one is left in web3 gaming, content creators are gone, web3 gaming traders are gone, no one thinks that a floating token can work, and, no one thinks that any game has a chance this tail end of the cycle that started in 2021. But crypto exists, NFTs haven't lost their promise, and even if there are no 'web3 gamers' left on CT there are millions of gamers still searching for new games that truly call to them. It's easy to safe confidently everything has been done, the play books didn't work out and gamers want this or that, but you also see the disillusion in the greater gaming industry. Yet there are still breakout games by passionate teams still hit their mark every week. As AI production tools become even more efficient, the cost of execution also decreases, but also the scope of what is possible also increases. It's not just that there isn't a better time to make games, there hasn't been a better time to swing for the fences and make something truly special. But with all cultural works of art, it is the human spirit that is the north star, the spark that touches the soul that makes something enduring and loved. Our scale of our project is extremely hard to see at the moment, it's one of those things that needs to seen to be believed, and we get that. We've taken the hardest path here, because it was the only one that made sense. And every rejection or simply being ignored hasn't fazed us because this game has always been a love letter for gamers. Fight for love. *** If you'd like to know more about what we're doing, follow our lead game designer @SinjinMAYG, make a post and tag him with your question, we are looking for those players who are looking to be part of something special.
