The thread has torn. The Michigan Court of Appeals has just ruled that MI’s 83 county prosecutors can now begin enforcing the abortion ban. But note that the Dem prosecuting attorneys have committed to refuse to enforce the ban, and the injunction still applies to my department.

Abortion rights are protected in MI, but they're hanging on by a thread. My opponent is eager to impose his "no exceptions" extremism on all MI residents, most of whom would rather codify their rights than eradicate them. Voters will decide the future of abortion in MI this fall.

Just a few months ago I literally had to explain to Republican members of Congress how periods work.
Their complete and utter incompetence is now killing women and pregnant people across the US.
There remains no legitimate grounding or basis to force birth in the United States.

@Lin_Manuel This is over a hundred pages of songs from #HamiltonMusical that my 10yo has edited himself to produce the musical at his elementary school. I watched tv on summer break when I didn’t play outside when I was his age.

All of this talk about covid and the classroom and the conversation being “adultcentric” rubs me the wrong way. No one in Michigan’s education authorty has invited teachers into the conversation. If we are going to be in the rooms, we ought to be a part of the conversation.

“6 weeks pregnant” = 2 weeks late on your period. Most of the men writing these bills don’t know the first thing about a woman’s body outside of the things they want from it. It’s relatively common for a woman to have a late period + not be pregnant. So this is a backdoor ban.
