The true test of love of Canada lies with renouncing the divisive nature of our electoral system. First-past-the-post concentrates Conservatives in Alberta and Liberals in the East. The electoral results look like gerrymandering. Proportional representation just makes votes count. Electoral results reflect our political diversity not gerrymandering. Will @jkenney, @coreyhoganyyc and @jengerson stand up for an electoral system that unites us and admit the harm done by first-past-the-post to national unity? #alberta

Alberta separatism is creating some strange political alliances. @jkenney @coreyhoganyyc 's pro-Canada event drew in Liberal organizers, yes. But also oilpatch execs, venture capitalists, nonprofit leaders, academics and others. thehub.ca/2026/05/12/fre…

Better yet, let's go for consensual democracy to brings parties of all stripes together. First-past-the-post allows parties to impose their will, without consensus. The result is policy lurch with policies with incoming governments massively overturning policies and projects of their predasessor. Support proportional representation @wabkinew if you want consensus, which is another word for a unified vision. #mbpoli dipd.dk/en/news-resour…

Wab Kinew: "There's nonsense in politics everywhere ... let's just cut out all the orthodoxy, let's focus on real people, let's focus on real change, and let's present a unified vision that all of Canada can believe in."

"It’s easy for politicians to put the blame on the voters for choosing irresponsibly and letting this or that party in. But the reality is, people are tired of being ignored. They are tired of being treated as predictable voting blocs. They want a system that reflects the complexity of their views, rather than forcing them into binary choices." What is the word that describes these electoral outcomes? Gerrymandering. Our electoral system effects gerrymandering in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Toronto. Federal parties have ignored the divisive nature of our elections. A federalist campaign must admit the damage done by FPTP and pledge to make Albertans' votes count. It's time to end gerrymandering by the electoral system. It's time for national unity. @RealTalkRJ @DrJaredWesley

The separatist connected to the biggest data breach in Alberta history is refusing to cooperate with investigators. Dr. Melanee Thomas, Lori Williams, & @DrJaredWesley say everyday Albertans need to fight back. Will you? 👀: rtrj.info/051226RTRT 🎧: rtrj.info/051226

Yet another advantage for proportional representation ele tions. No hidden agendas. PR works like this. Parties run on platforms. Parties form coalitions to govern based on their platforms. Parties govern to stay within the confines of these plaforms. Voters receive the government they voted for. @jengerson
Scott Robertson@sarobertson_

Jen Gerson on Alberta separation referendum: "You can't just take over a party with a minority position, use that political power to change the law to create a petition that then forces a succession effort — no jurisdiction in the free world would accept that process. That's insane."

To come across as a true Federalist @jkenney, you must speak out against the damage done by first-past the post to a strong confederation. FPTP gerrymanders Alberta for Conservatives and seat rich cities like Toronto for Liberals. Proportional representation respects your vote if you're a Liberal in Alberta or a Conservative in Toronto. For decades both parties ignored the division created by FPTP at the country's peril. Proportional representation doesn't gerrymander anything and will unite the country. #abpoli

NEW: Former Alberta premier @jkenney warned Monday that Canada may be "150 days away from a huge rupture," urging federalists to fight back against separatism, saying pro-Canada forces have allowed separatists to "almost completely dominate the debate" — The Canadian Press

The crisis of British democracy has never been more evident than after these local elections. The King's Speech was a missed opportunity to address it. We can't afford another general election under the same broken voting system. We need Proportional Representation now.

Despite hundreds of thousands of votes for other parties, first-past-the-post gave Liberals 23 of 24 Toronto ridings. Proportional representation would reflect the city's true political diversity, providing more voices to speak out against Ford's airport plans.
Toronto Star@TorontoStar

#Opinion Toronto’s Liberal MPs have a duty to defend the city’s stake in the future of Billy Bishop airport. So why aren’t they trib.al/9xim0yw

Pierre Poilievre that he lost the 2025 winner-take-all election due to Liberals adopting a classic FPTP move; adopt popular parts of the opponent's platform for neutering purposes. Pierre Poilievre still gets no credit. Instead, he may be open to the same plagiarism if he campaigns too hard in advance of the 2029 election which left him wide open to snatching in 2025. Elections under proportional representation don't depend on cutting the legs out from under another party in order to steal their thunder. @pierrepoilievre @vassykapelos @lraitt @robertbenzie @ThomasMulcair @BrianGallantNB @CTV_PowerPlay
Scott Robertson@sarobertson_

Vassy: Does it matter that [Pierre Poilievre] would say 'I said this first' type of thing [about the Liberals adopting Conservative policies]. Does that ultimately politically matter? Lisa Raitt: No -- sadly, no.

Great to see @Prominent_Bryan in the @WSOnlineNews making the case for why electoral reform is more urgent than ever. He breaks down how proportional representation takes power back from party elites and ensures every region is heard. Full article linked in the replies below!

Do you support the implementation of the Single Transferable Vote in Canada (a proportional representation system with multi-member ridings where voters rank individual candidates in order of preference)?
