A first-class day for University of Galway and the West as @DeptofFHed Minister @podonovan and @hea_irl confirm a radical expansion of healthcare education - more than 120 new pharmacists and doctors to be taught and trained through our research-led university. It means two new programmes for University of Galway: 🔹Graduate Entry Medicine – an accelerated pathway into Medicine, with 48 places for a graduate to build on their prior academic achievements and become qualified medical professionals 🔹Pharmacy (MPharm) - a five-year undergraduate programme, which will provide students with a comprehensive education in pharmacy Our Interim President, Professor @Peter_E_McHugh said: "This is truly transformative - for healthcare education; for communities in the West and other regions; for the healthcare sector and society in general. “Investment in more than 120 new places at our University for pharmacy and medicine is an endorsement of the excellence in healthcare education and training that we provide, founded on high-impact research. “It is wonderful to secure such recognition from Government and the HEA, and the enhanced investment, in our capacity to deliver the healthcare workforce of the future.” #UniversityOfGalway #pharmacy #medicine #graduatestudies
