A new webpage (growiwm.org/Take-Action-ESA) from the Soy Checkoff’s Take Action program helps farmers learn which herbicides contain new requirements for the Endangered Species Act – and how to navigate those new labels.

How many effective herbicide modes of action are you really using in your crop rotations? The University of Wyoming’s Herbicide Resistance Risk Calculator by @WyoWeeds can help you find out, and it will explain your herbicide plan’s costs and effectiveness against target weeds. Learn more about the calculator and how to use it here: growiwm.org/check-your-her… #growiwm #integratedweedmanagement #farming #agriculture #herbicideresistance #weedcontrol

Selecting the right adjuvant and adjuvant rate can be critical to the success or failure of an herbicide. Not using an adjuvant, using the wrong adjuvant, or using an unnecessary adjuvant can be costly due to reduced weed control, crop damage, and/or extra expense over many acres. Check out the Adjuvants with Herbicides article at cropprotectionnetwork.org/publications/a…. Seed impact mills are devices that pulverize weed seeds exiting a combine at harvest, and research shows that they can kill up to 98% of most of the weed seeds they encounter! Learn more about this harvest weed seed control device in our latest recap, and read the original articles here: growiwm.org/a-weed-seed-ki…, growiwm.org/a-weed-seed-ki… @redekopmfg @VTAgWeeds #growiwm #integratedweedmanagement #seedimpactmills #harvestweedseedcontrol

Folks often assume #waterhemp escapes are late-emerging. In reality, many were already established but not controlled at POST. The plants pictured were >4” tall at POST and survived Enlist + Liberty.

Here’s one reason #waterhemp keeps winning: 📸 Drown-out spot in 2024 (left): a few weeds went to seed. 📸 Same spot in 2025 (right): now a heavy waterhemp patch. In another year, waterhemp will likely take over the entire field and continue to spread to others via harvest, tillage, and planting equipment. This was preventable. Small effort on these spots in 2024, big ROI in 2025 and beyond: No seed, no weed. The same applies to infestations along field margins.

If Palmer amaranth and other pigweeds have been observed, it's important to take steps to control them both before and after planting. @UMdExtension
