@AlexMSilverman @TaylorTwellman @SBJ I’m going to guess that there will be a lot of unsold seats for many games. FIFA is creating artificial scarcity and FOMO, but there’s going to be a lot of seats for Jordan vs Algeria etc

Exclusively at @SBJ: Only 12,000 people have opted in to the FIFA PASS to receive an expedited U.S. visa interview appointment for the World Cup. While not a perfect proxy, it’s the last signal that the anticipated spike in tourism may not be materializing. sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2026/…

@StephenChaconas It’s the P2P model. The primary goal of the system is to keep generating $$ from monthly fees. It’s like my gym, it has no interest in my fitness as long as I keep paying my dues.

@BBCPolitics @BBCNews It’s not like any of this makes any difference to oil prices in short term. One it takes 4-7 years to start producing, second North Sea is a mature bed - probably 80% depleted.
English

Kemi Badenoch tells the PM he can make the decision to drill in the North Sea today, quoting several companies and a Labour MP calling for more drilling
"Oil and gas is part of the mix for many years to come," Keir Starmer responds

@RJPcoach @coach_kevin_m @BreakthruSoccer @PeterPrickett @JB_SoccerCoach @CraigBirtwistle @ProAcademyDrill @CraigRudders In this situation you’ll have applicants low ball to get an interview, then decline the offer on reflection-so both parties wasted their time.
English

@Coach_Temisan @stevensallis It’s strange because I’ve set up free play and players don’t seem to enjoy it because they want safety of coach led instruction. It seems like we have a generation of players that are doing sports rather than playing.

@SimonMajumdar It goes through a cycle appreciation every decade in UK. The Fall wrote a song about it. I think the book sold really well in the UK, but never took off in US 🤷

@Oregonian Maybe start with the furlough with CFO who didn’t flag the crisis much earlier?

@JB_SoccerCoach @RJPcoach @PeterPrickett @coach_kevin_m @Leecosgrove10 @JustcoachMD @SessionShareNet @BreakthruSoccer @CoachingFamily The coolest thing is seeing kids you coached a long time ago still playing or coaching or their kids playing.

You’re probably not coaching to create the next Messi.
You are coaching to help young players fall in love with the game.
The reality is that fewer than 0.1% of players will ever reach the professional level.
But 100% of them can experience joy, belonging, confidence, and personal growth through football.
So the real question is:
When they leave training or a match, do they want to come back?
Do they head home desperate to grab a ball and play again?
Do they feel excited for the next session?
Do they talk about their team with pride?
Or are they leaving disheartened… anxious… already drifting away from the sport?
Our responsibility at grassroots is simple:
Create environments where passion thrives.
Where development is guided, but fun is never sacrificed.
Where every player feels valued, supported, and encouraged to try, fail, and try again.
If we keep them loving football, we keep them in football and that is the biggest win we can achieve.

@power_ray Depends on the individual. I’ve had same agreements with HS boys to let them walk it off until they can process everything and then there’s some that do better with a flat out ‘knock it off’. It’s all about relationships and knowing your players.
English

How do you react when a player emotionally melts down? 😞⚽
Discipline? Distance? Dialogue?
I used to have an agreement with a player (18) that if he 'saw red', we'd exchange a gesture and he could come straight off, leave (as he often felt embarrassed afterwards), then we would address it calmly the next day
Moments of vulnerability are development gold — if handled with care.
What’s your approach?

@power_ray Using non specific words or phrases like ‘unlucky’ or ‘nice work’. The other one is giving coaching points and finishing off with ‘do you understand?’.
