@AlanCarson15 @drphilhammond @NICEComms You seem to be better at engaging with what you imagine patients to be thinking than what we actually say to you as individuals. Have you considered the possibility that your knowledge of what we're thinking, or what our 'fantasies' are, is based on prejudice?

@AlanCarson15 @StenHelmfrid @NICEComms NICE published the comments submitted on their guidelines, and the responses from NICE. It's an interesting read and some comments help show why NICE felt the need to draw attention to the prejudice many patients have endured from some of those in medicine.

One of the problems is blinkers- people see it in others behaviour not their own- this is heightened by actions of some patient. Activist groups- dare to mention what majority of treating clinicians know- that SOME cases of long covid are functional and watch what happens next

@rehabil31319128 @JohnnyStewart1 @derickwaderehab They later released a meta-analysis reporting that CBT had failed to allow an increase in activity levels, though this was presented as good news for their CBT programme. (nih.gov) I think that there's reason to be more cautious with the claims being made here.

@rehabil31319128 @JohnnyStewart1 @derickwaderehab The authors of the first study you posted had also ran 3 CBT RCTs that used actometers to assess how successful CBT was at allowing patients with CFS to increase their activity levels. Results for this outcome were not published with the positive results for questionnaire scores.

Is ME label not compatible with a broader BPS model or effective treatment? Why? How did you attempt to be 'balanced' (as AD put it) here?
