After many years of writing & editing, I can finally offer my Anglican introduction to Scripture, the sacraments, and Christian living. It's free for download to any churches that wish to have a course for study groups. @Swanbrec @ChurchinWales @AnglicanWorld Link in comments.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Carey, the last editor who served from 2020 to 2025. His loss has been felt keenly and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. Taken far too soon. RIP @churchofengland

@MelStanley3410 I like the idea of pathfinding to prayer. I now live a 20 minute driver from my church, so am forced to say mine at home, except on Wednesdays when we do gather in the church for Morning Prayer.

@MFMClavier From my rectory to the church every path is overgrown with brambles/ivy and impossible to use, including the public footpath- the rectory’s own bushes have made the path impassable. Which says everything about the lack of daily prayer taking place. I’m gradually cutting a path

@cath_cov Damn fine pub there, too. I served 3 parishes not far from there before decamping to Wales.

It was announced today that I've been appointed Assistant Archdeacon of Brecon. I'll remain at St Mary's Church, Brecon but will also be helping around the northern half of the Diocese. May God have mercy on their souls!

@OSacrumCorIesu Plus, the things we give up are time limited. I can't think of much we can take on that we shouldn't be doing all the time.

On the danger of Lent “becom[ing] an exercise in giving things up…” But I think that’s a good thing. We’ve spent yrs telling people to go for walks or take up etc, whereas fasting is a collective discipline that cd draw us together to give us time to pray, opportunity to study (and to eat!). I believe that “giving up” is good, and that we should return to it.

Lent is an important time in the Christian calendar, and one which allows us to step away from the business of life, slow down and reflect. Last year, our Dean, Dr David Hoyle, was joined by the Reverend Catherine Williams to discuss themes of repentance and how we might observe a ‘Holy Lent’ ⤵️

@OSacrumCorIesu That's a real difficulty. My Old Testament prof used to ask us how 1 hour of church is supposed to compete with 30 hours of TV.

@MFMClavier One thing I’ve long wondered is whether an hour on Sunday morning is sufficient for this formation, given the degree of formation people receive elsewhere through other media etc

Our witness won’t come from chasing lost prestige, but from formation: communities shaped by worship, Word, and the slow habits of discipleship. Authority grows from lives that make our words credible. Link in comments. @ThinkAnglicans @SaveTheParish @prayerbook_soc
