Dr. Evil's "assume it all went to plan" approach is near 180 degrees opposite what mine must be at work every day as a transactional attorney 😄 bit.ly/2xkJTUD

Buyer beware! @Poshmarkapp denied my return request despite the item being listed under Men’s Sweatshirts & Hoodies and described only as ‘Large’ ... only for me to receive a women’s hoodie. Seller listing in Men’s created a misleading expectation, but consequence is buyer's???

When you look at the substantial 42% increase in the Texas budget over just the last two biennial budgets, Texas starts looking less like the model of fiscal restraint many claim—and more like the states conservatives usually criticize. Yes, Texas still performs better than many states, and @GregAbbott_TX should get some credit. But that’s too low of a bar. Too often we sit on our laurels instead of leading from the front when we’re in a position to do so. My work on Texas appropriations per two-year budget cycle (first two charts) shows the budget growing FAR faster than population growth + inflation from 2004–27. That period begins after Republicans gained full control of the Governor’s office, Senate, and House following the 2003 election. That matters because population growth + inflation is a reasonable benchmark for the average taxpayer’s ability to pay for government over time. Spending beyond that means government is consuming a growing share of the economy and family budgets. The later charts from ATR’s Sustainable Budget Project examine annual spending from 2016–25 and show somewhat better results—but largely because: • the 2016 base year was elevated, • spending accelerated heavily in the second half of that decade, and • the population + inflation calculations differ somewhat from my earlier Texas budget-cycle analysis. Even then, spending still grew too fast overall when you consider how fast pop+inf was from 2021-25. Bottom line: the primary problem in Texas isn’t taxation (though we should be pushing to eliminate all property taxes not just for school districts)—it’s spending. If Texas wants to remain a national leader in growth, opportunity, and affordability, lawmakers must return to sustainable budgeting by reducing the bloated budget and restrain spending growth thereafter to less than population growth + inflation. (10/) TX is still one of the best states in America, but preserving that success means remembering why TX grew in the first place: 👉Free enterprise 👉Constitutional protections 👉Limited government 👉Property rights 👉Individual liberty Those principles matter just as much during prosperity as they do during crisis. Fairfax County Public Schools cut 275 teaching positions and increased class sizes—citing "chronic underfunding." Then it launched a taxpayer-funded Ph.D. program for administrators already earning over $200,000 per year, including its Chief of Schools ($289,565) and multiple Assistant Superintendents ($228,000+). The district's superintendent earns $445,353. She called the situation a "crisis." dailysignal.com/2026/05/04/fai…

@11drawbridge @Rangers I only saw 25% for 1 hour in my corner of the metroplex, but I’ll grant your point. Nevertheless, the sentiment stands. I and many others will tolerate even 85 degrees to watch baseball - let alone the 100+ we did since 1972 prior to this stadium. Open the roof way more!

The thing I hated most about Rangers move across the street was moving into a dome. Team said it’s not a dome, it’s a retractable roof. It’s 74 degrees with an expected high of 77. No threat of rain. Roof closed. It’s a dome.
