CBS News is now a disgrace: a poll designed to boost GOP propaganda that the SAVE Act is about voter ID. It is not. It is about allowing the federal govt to purge millions of voters and making sure millions more are unable to prove their citizenship between now and November.

Today, I exposed an unredacted email that clearly shows Trump has been lying about his connections to Jeffrey Epstein. There's no reason this should have been redacted, which is exactly why I showed it. Pam Bondi and Donald Trump: The gig is up. Release all the files. Now.

🚨BREAKING: Armed suspected ICE agents are now grabbing young women outside college fraternities… Yesterday, a young woman was surrounded by armed men and taken, outside a fraternity house, at the University of Washington… And we need to stop pretending this is normal. Armed men grabbing a woman in public, and refusing to identify themselves, is exactly what we teach women to fear… and now the government is normalizing that, and calling it “law enforcement.” And this doesn’t just affect one person… it lowers the safety of every woman, on every campus. Because now, there’s no clear line between law enforcement and a predator. If unidentified men can take a woman from a dorm, a campus, a fraternity… then any man can pretend to be ICE and do the same thing, and that confusion is exactly what predators rely on. But, it gets worse… ICE has a pattern of detaining people they shouldn’t, then releasing them without belongings, without support, sometimes far from where they were taken… Now, apply that to a college student… away from family, in an unfamiliar place, suddenly without a phone, ID, or any way to get home. ICE agents are illegally taking whoever they can… and every time people excuse it, the line moves further. Because the second a country normalizes masked armed men grabbing any women in public, especially college students, and refusing to identify themselves… That’s not only NOT public safety… it’s actively putting every woman at risk.

AI is not going to “do” anything to us. We’re either going to allow it or not. This piece, though more thoughtful than most, still shows a fundamental misunderstanding - ignorance actually - of human nature. The purveyors of AI are propelling a speed of transition that has only happened in times of catastrophe - war, revolutions, earthquakes - and they want that speed only because of their grotesque and astonishing greed. When were the American people ever as passive as they are at this moment? Our forefathers overthrew the yoke of Great Britain over provocations much less disastrous than what these sick billionaires are throwing at us now.
Rod Dreher@roddreher

Read this. It's important. It's from a Silicon Valley guy talking about what AI is about to do to us, whether we want it or not. sahajgarg.github.io/blog/cognitive…

Here is Andrew Yang laughing about the decimation of the American work force. Not that he thinks it’s funny, just that he thinks UBI is the solution. Which is as insane as the CEO’s preparing to destroy our economy. How much UBI should white collar workers get? More than SNAP? Where will the money come from? How will poor people feel about fired executives getting 5X more than they do? Will the govt pay for mortgages, property taxes, car payments? Do we understand that we’re looking into an abyss? And that the only reason we’re going there is because psychopathic billionaires control our country?

Republicans have repeatedly said the SAVE Act is the most important piece of legislation they have. Yet they cannot point to a single statistic to back up that claim. Why? Because there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud. There is, however, mountains of data that shows that the proof of citizenship requirement of the SAVE Act would disenfranchise millions of Americans. That’s why it’s important to them. That’s what they’re doing.
Headquarters@HQNewsNow

Q: Trump said the SAVE Act is his number 1 priority, can you give me one example of fraud conducted in a previous election? Mike Johnson: We're not going to litigate all of that

🚨 Let me tell you why this Goldman Sachs headline is the most dangerous one you'll read today.. Companies spent $450 billion on AI last year.. fired tens of thousands of people to "restructure around AI".. replaced entire departments with chatbots.. And Goldman Sachs just said it contributed basically zero to economic growth.. so where did the money go? > It went to Nvidia.. $130 billion in GPU sales.. Jensen is the only man on earth who got rich from AI that hasn't produced anything yet.. > It went to stock buybacks.. companies fired people, cut costs, reported "record profits" and bought back their own shares.. the money went UP not OUT.. Jesus! > It went to a bubble.. the same way crypto money went to Lamborghinis and not infrastructure.. AI money is going to valuations and not productivity.. here's the part that should terrify you.. They already fired the people.. Atlassian 1,600.. Meta 21,000.. Block 40%.. Amazon warehouses.. the jobs are already gone.. But the growth didn't come.. the productivity didn't come.. the revenue didn't come.. they burned the village to build a city that doesn't exist yet.. and Goldman Sachs just looked at the empty lot and said "there's nothing here"

I wonder whether this is direct enough to make the point about Coasian rights. AI is a vampire. A wraith. A soul snatcher. It's human. It IS us. A tiny number of men are training machines on us, to be us, and to replace us with less mess and cost. Without Coase, you're lost.

It's interesting to watch Trump's support crumble with people who are losing their minds over Cluster B Personality disorder symptoms/characteristics that the Mental Health field have been warning about for a decade. A decade ago, we highlighted how "only the best people" were hired....when "the best" was not necessarily about merit/competency, but was about whether Trump thought they "liked" him (loyalty). Essentially, the government was being staffed by someone with a pathologically fragile ego that created a child-like need to be "liked". And when someone like Mattis/Kelly/etc stood up to Trump on moral/ethical grounds, Trump would disparage them.....like he now does Joe Kent....without any awareness of contradiction....because in Trump's mind there is no contradiction: when someone likes him, there the best people....and when they don't like him (or sycophantically support him), they're no longer the best people. The sad/pathetic part isn't that Trump is too disordered to have the self awareness to understand that this is the antithesis of good leadership.......it's that the entire Right Wing Media Echo Chamber did/does........and fed this gaslighting propaganda/manipulation to tens of millions of Americans......most of whom are too invested emotionally, and with their identity to ever admit they were conned.
Nick Carmody JD, MS Psych@Nick_Carmody

@JoyAnnReid The problem w/Trump's Personality Disorders (it's so obvious the "Goldwater Rule" is irrelevant): Since he has no character, he doesn't judge others by theirs. He makes value judgements based on whether they like him (narcissistic supply): Lapierre & supremacists = fine people..

I know a lot of Jews think Christians only support Israel because we believe it needs to exist for the end times to come. I grew up in the church and I think this is a profound misreading of most people’s motivation. I saw one of my childhood friends in Mississippi a few weeks ago. This woman is probably the least political person I know. But she is very decent, and she is a Christian. And we got to talk about Israel policy and expressed the strongest opinion I’ve ever seen her expressed on anything. “The Bible says Jews are God’s chosen people. And we have a duty to protect them.” And I think that’s how a lot of people in the South feel about Jews. Y’all matter to our God, so you matter to us. And so does Israel. I’m not gonna claim there aren’t weirdos that think they should try to convert you to Christianity. There are. But I think most Christians see Jews as part of something deeply meaningful.
