FORMAL REBUTTAL STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE FAMILY OF ABDULSAMAD JAMIU (DECEASED) In Response to the HQ Nigerian Army Official Account of Events of 25th April 2026 Incident Location: Dei-Dei Shagari Quarters, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory Victim: Abdulsamad Jamiu, Male, 24 Years of Age Date of Statement: 26th April 2026 PRELIMINARY NOTE This statement is issued on behalf of the immediate family of the late Abdulsamad Jamiu, who was killed in the early hours of Saturday, 25th April 2026, at his residence in Dei-Dei Shagari Quarters, Abuja. It is issued in direct and formal response to the account of events published by the Nigerian Military, which the family, supported by physical evidence, witness testimony, and the military’s own partial admissions, categorically rejects as false, misleading, and an affront to the memory of an innocent young man. The family is not issuing this statement in anger alone. They are issuing it in the interest of truth, accountability, and the rule of law — values which the Nigerian Military, as an institution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is constitutionally obligated to uphold. SECTION I: ESTABLISHED FACTS The following facts are not in dispute and form the foundation of this rebuttal: 1. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, 25th April 2026, personnel of the Nigerian Military entered the residential premises of the Jamiu family at Dei-Dei Shagari Quarters, Abuja. 2. At the time of the incident, Abdulsamad Jamiu, aged 24 years, was present inside his room within the family residence. His sister was also present in the house. Their parents were absent, having travelled to Okene to attend a burial ceremony. 3. Nigerian Military personnel discharged a firearm at close range through the door of Abdulsamad’s room. The shot struck Abdulsamad Jamiu in the head, killing him instantly. 4. The trajectory of the bullet — confirmed by physical examination of the bullet hole, which runs from the room door to the wall of the room — conclusively establishes that the shot was fired from outside the room, through the closed door, into the room where Abdulsamad Jamiu was situated. 5. On hearing the gunshot, Abdulsamad’s sister rushed downstairs, whereupon she was instructed by the soldiers present to go outside and “calm down.” 6. Neighbours who heard the gunshot contacted the community vigilante group. Upon their arrival, vigilante members were instructed by the military personnel to mop up the blood and flush it — a directive which, in itself, raises grave questions about the military’s intent to preserve an evidence-intact crime scene. 7. The body of Abdulsamad Jamiu was subsequently conveyed to Kubwa General Hospital by the police, who had arrived at the scene. The family was compelled to endure hours of statements and administrative paperwork before being granted access to retrieve their son’s remains for burial. 8. The military personnel present at the scene, when confronted by the family regarding the killing of their son, acknowledged that the shooting of Abdulsamad Jamiu was a mistake and that they had killed an innocent person. This acknowledgement was made in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and was recorded in a written statement. SECTION II: THE MILITARY’S ACCOUNT AND ITS SPECIFIC CONTRADICTIONS The Nigerian Military has publicly claimed that its personnel were engaged in active pursuit of armed robbers and that the fatal shooting of Abdulsamad Jamiu occurred in the course of an exchange of gunfire. The family rejects this account in its entirety and presents the following point-by-point rebuttal, each supported by verifiable evidence or the absence of evidence where the military bears the burden of proof: Ground 1: The Physical Evidence Disproves an “Exchange of Gunfire” The military’s claim of an exchange of gunfire is irreconcilable with the physical evidence present at the scene.

TRAGIC LOSS OF NYSC CORPS MEMBER DURING ARMED ROBBERY INCIDENT IN DEI-DEI Headquarters Guards Brigade regrets the tragic loss of Mr. Abdulsamad Jamiu, a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member during a security incident in the early hours of 25 April 2026 at Shagari Estate, Dei-Dei, Abuja. The unfortunate incident occurred when troops of the Guards Brigade Quick Response Group, on routine night patrol, responded to a distress call following an armed robbery attack in the area. Upon arrival, the troops came under gunfire from the fleeing armed robbers, resulting in a brief but intense exchange. In the course of the engagement, Mr. Jamiu was caught in the crossfire. Despite efforts by troops to secure the area and preserve lives, he sadly succumbed to his injuries. This heartbreaking loss has cast a deep shadow over all personnel of the Guards Brigade. Preliminary information indicates that the situation was fluid and highly volatile, as troops worked to repel the attackers and protect residents of the community from harm. The Commander, Guards Brigade, officers and soldiers extend their deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the National Youth Service Corps, and all who are affected by this painful loss. We share in their grief and stand in solidarity with them during this moment of profound sorrow. The Brigade has since initiated a thorough investigation to fully ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. We remain committed to transparency and accountability and findings will be made available in due course. The remains of the deceased have been respectfully handed over to the appropriate civil authorities and deposited at Kubwa General Hospital. Guards Brigade affirms its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property within the Federal Capital Territory. We will continue to review our operational procedures to further enhance civilian safety, even as our troops confront criminal elements who threaten the peace of our communities. Members of the public are urged to remain calm and continue to cooperate with security agencies as we work collectively to maintain safety and security. OLAWUYI ODUNOLA Lieutenant Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Headquarters Guards Brigade Abuja 26 April 2026

I cried my eyes out last night. Honestly, if I had known marriage would feel like this, I might never have agreed to it. I’m currently six months pregnant with our first child, and it feels like my husband is making things even harder for me. He gave me ₦400k for baby items, but everything on my list is over ₦2 million just basic necessities. I know he’s trying his best, but the money isn’t enough, and I’m feeling overwhelmed. I genuinely don’t know where to start or what to do next. I really need sincere advice.

Nigeria’s Head of the Civil Service, Didi Walson-Jack, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, in a move expected to increase the take-home pay of civil servants and boost the morale of the government’s workforce. Walson-Jack said the increment affects workers under the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS) and the Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS). This is targeted at ensuring a broad-based impact across all cadres of the civil service. According to her, the allowances have been structured to reflect across all grade levels, leading to better earnings for senior and junior officers.

The person my dad borrowed money to travel to America after winning the visa lottery came to visit us to sympathize with our family, 20 years after my dad’s death. During all those years, he never called or checked on my dad, even though he knew my dad had borrowed him $1,500 for his trip, with the promise that he would repay it after five months. He brought the $1,500 he owed our family, but my family rejected the money and sent him out of our family house.

LESSONS FROM EMMANUEL EBOUES’S DIVORCE! Every time I read something about Emmanuel Eboue, it makes me sad. Eboué had three children with his Belgian wife, Aurélie, whom he married before joining Arsenal. In December 2017, Eboué told the Sunday Mirror that he was poor and homeless due to his divorce and bad investments that were under his former wife's control. In June 2019, Eboué spoke about his ongoing struggles with mental health. I will urge every young man to marry well, to think of the future, and to consider their nationality when getting married. Today may be okay when love is blind, but think about what might happen in the future. Don’t make getting the right to stay the major criterion for your marriage. It often ends in tears. I also think it is ‘foolishness’ for a man to entrust all his investments and wealth to his wife’s care and lose track of his money unless the wife is dependable. Love your wife, but do not abandon control. Know what you have. Be strategic! You will get to an age where you no longer have strength, and some ‘wicked’ women can turn your children against you. That kills a man faster than not having money. For you to lose your marriage, lose your children, and not have money is an expressway to a short life. I will rather marry someone who, if things go wrong in the Western world, we can go to our home country and show each other shege. That was a major part of my life before I got married. I will also ask young men not to leave all their assets abroad. You may not like your country now, but it can provide the much-needed succor for you if your wife decides to take all that you have labored for abroad. As a pastor and a legal practitioner, I know several former homeowners who are now renting a single room in the UK after being kicked out following their divorce. They lost everything, including their children, and they have no shock absorbers. Ma lo suegbe (Do not be foolish) I know some of you reading this will say some of our people do this, but their own fight is easier than fighting a white woman in her country. I hope you understand what I did not say here. Finally, do not spend all your money on the family and end up with nothing left. Because of the crazy way some Gen X and Gen Z have little or no regard for marriage and are money-conscious, if your spouse is working, they must contribute to paying the family bills. Don't walk past this post without meditating seriously on it, especially if you are yet to get married. My name is Dele Olawanle. I am a coach. I think, write, and speak to improve lives. Share this post. Follow me for more insights and inspiration. #deleolawanlesnuggets

"After You Rejected My Marriage Proposal in Public, You Still Had the Guts to Come and Sleep in My House" – Man Reacts A man (34yrs) from Nnewi anambra state has reacted bitterly after his girlfriend publicly rejected his marriage proposal, only for her to return to his house later that same day to spend the night. According to the man, his girlfriend (27yrs) who comes from imo state Mbaise precisely boldly turned down the engagement ring 💍 he presented to her before his friends and other people that were present. The embarrassing incident, which happened in public, left him humiliated and deeply hurt 😢. Later in the day, the lady went back to the man’s house to spend a night as if nothing had happened. However, the man returned home around midnight and, still pained by the public rejection, asked her to pack all her belongings and leave immediately. He even helped her arrange her things before walking her out of the house that same night. Did he do the right thing?. What do you think 🤔?
