I can't remember the last time I saw a player play as poorly as Carreras and last the full 90... I know it is unpopular, but I really want us to sign Bernardo Silva. Our midfield depth is a myth, because both Frenkie and Pedri suffer injuries each season. Bernal is young and still developing, Gavi is just returning (uncertain how much he can play) and Marc Casado is no longer trusted. Bernardo Silva is: • Experienced, but still only 31 years old • Never injured • Pep Guardiola-proven • Extremely versatile. Can basically play any position. He is a free agent and doesn’t rely on pace, meaning his decline won’t be brutal. He is a free agent as well, meaning it is a huge opportunity. Imagine if we could go into the tie against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals with him in the squad? Instead, we are likely to start a centre back next to Pedri. It is far from ideal. I know our depth looks good on paper, but the reality is different.
