@joshbottweet @LotusEater29 @nypost Islamic Studies prof here. The Qur'an doesn't have a lot of "miraculous scenes" but the person it mentions most often by name was played by Charlton Heston

@JennMGreenberg The politics of the left have gotten ugly...being in power made them think it was acceptable to put politics over performance.

It’s actually weird how political many comedians have gotten. I watched an old Letterman episode, and he was legit funny. No cynicism. No angle. No manipulation. Just funny jokes, dogs doing weird tricks, kids doing talent shows … wholesome simple stuff. Why did it change?

@Sideways_Circle @Ligier_ @JennMGreenberg Anyone who calls corporate media "Marxist" doesn't know what Marxism is. I'm bewildered by the "big corporations are programming us with Marxism" conspiracy theory, it's entirely silly

@Ligier_ @JennMGreenberg I don't even know if it's just Marxism. They live in the Hollywood bubble and are out of touch with non-celebrities. They're fools who were given too much power and influence, instead of just mockery and laughs.

@TheFootBaptist @RHyperboreo Maybe he's some kind of traditionalist and rejects modernity. Pink only started to be seen as a girl color in the 1940s and blew up in the 1980s. It became a way of selling boy/girl-branded stuff after tech allowed parents to know baby sex before birth

I grew up in an era when going to cinema was practically a ritual (late 80s and all through 90s). Almost every movie instilled in us a sense of pursuit and love for excellence, virtue, and adventure. Today, films function as a tool for programmed mental retardation, imposed as social engineering. Goal is to break the spirit of new generations of young men, literally banning figures like Lundgren and always choosing ruined male characters instead. The problem with the right is that it fails to understand a movie like Minecraft is infinitely more powerful at delivering a political message subliminally than elections featuring figures like Trump. Trump, or any populist leader, can win an election and form a government for four years. Films colonize minds and spirits almost completely. I will never lose the memories and impressions left by movies like Rambo and Rocky. The same thing is happening to the new generations with films like Minecraft, unfortunately...

@wcwcrowbar But why does *everyone* in the catching group have to fall down? This always takes me out. Some guy is 10 feet away from the landing but collapses and sells like he's dead for no reason...is there like a seismic wave or something

I’ll say the part out loud that nobody is saying. First - I love dives - did them my whole career, still do them at 52 years old, I love what they add to a match. I am not anti-dive. BUT Nobody wants to catch a guy THAT BIG doing a moonsault from the top rope - TO THE FLOOR. A straight dive, sure - cross body etc…But a big, heavy individual, Rotating with momentum and acceleration - it’s tough to judge that catch. Your worries about your head, neck getting clipped by a rotating leg. I don’t care if you have 3,4,6,7 bodies out there - nobody wants to take the brunt of that. That’s why they parted like the Red Sea. Each catcher figured “somebody else will take it” and the wrestler ends up barely being caught and landing on the floor - this happens a lot (Leon Slater - TNA Off the truss - nobody caught that guy. Incredibly athletic, incredibly gutsy, exciting - worth the risk ? IDK - do a different dive , A guy that big will look impressive as hell doing any dive.

Every decade in modern American history can be identified and defined by its own style, its own approach to music, film, fashion, its own aesthetic. That seems to have stopped right around 2010. The 2010s don't really have their own unique feel, even in retrospect. The 2020s certainly don't. We're more than halfway through the decade. What are the movies, music, style, and trends that this decade will be remembered for? It's like we fell into some kind of cultural blackhole 15 years ago.

@Misterm51177781 @esjesjesj Prequel style in general, flippy and looking like a dance routine. It's the same problem that afflicted pro wrestling over the past 40 years (more athleticism, more complicated moves, less psychology, less emotion)

@Misterm51177781 @esjesjesj There's no such thing as "that's simply how he actually fights." This is a fictional character, these are choices. And I think the choices really didn't give us a Yoda-specific style based on the character, just generic video-game stuff.

@MM_Knight @esjesjesj It’s in harmony with the OT too. We never saw yoda actually fight in the OT just train Luke. Also the flips are a strategy. Because he’s moving so much and he’s coming from unpredictable angles it throws the opponent off guard. That’s simply how he actually fights.

@Misterm51177781 @esjesjesj Because why do flippy-flips when you're at Yoda's level Force-wise? And if it's in harmony with the prequels, that's great for people who like the prequels. I saw each of them 1x and never looked back

@MM_Knight @esjesjesj Why not? He’s like 2 feet tall don’t you think he’d need to jump to be actually effective? We qui gon and kenobi use the same form in episode 1. Maul also jumps around a lot when fighting he’s not really that different.

@burntcigs1995 @esjesjesj that is beyond silly. Audiences popped seeing Yoda pull out his light saber precisely because Yoda was cool already. What happened next deflated all of that

@esjesjesj What’s wrong with him having a lightsaber? He’s very strong in the force yes, but he’s also a great Jedi. Jedi all use lightsabers. He’s also not trying to kill dookuu as we see he matches palpatine who’s way stronger than dookuu he’s just trying to stop him.

@HolyKnightBlade @esjesjesj what was iconic about it, they all do flippy flips Would have been *iconic* to have a Yoda-specific style based on his specific attributes, not the same video-game gymnastics stuff

@esjesjesj L take. Made yoda even cooler by introducing with is now seen as an iconic fighting style. Even Disney applied the same fighting style to Mickey Mouse in Kingdom hearts cause it was just that iconic.

@CodyFandom_ @esjesjesj Yoda doing flippy-flips was beyond silly and lost the gist of Yoda as a character. It'd be like having Palpatine do flippy-flips [if Palpatine in fact does flippy-flips in the sequels, sorry I only saw them 1x and walked away]

13 yaşındaki bir çocuk, iki kardeşini öldürdü. Yargıç, “Bebekleri öldürdüğü an çocukluğu bitti” diyerek, ‘100 yıl hapis cezasını’ açıklayınca…
