My point is strictly cosmological and historical in my critique of Guénon. From a perspective within the field of esoteric symbolism, the Traditionalism of Schuon and Guénon is, for me, the greatest intellectual achievement of 20th century. "Thinkers" like Papus, Blavatsky, Steiner, Jung, and Gurdjieff simply fade away in the face of the intellectual quality of Guénon and Schuon. My criticisms are theoretical and in no way deny their genius.

Traditionalism is all about the superiority of religious fundamentalism - as you put it, well-behaved spiritual eunuchs - over science, modernity, evolution, and change. Their tradition, or perennial theology, is not timeless but goes back no further than Jasper's Axial Age, and no more recent than Mohammad, so a span of maybe one to one and a half millennia. Their cosmology is all about the decline from an original Hindu and Greek Truth/Golden Age to the current decadent Kali/Iron Age, which is the reign of quantity (empiricism, physicalism). Esotericism is only allowed if it is associated with a fundamentalist religion, so Eckhart or Sufism good, but Blavatsky or Aurobindo bad. All modernizing insights have to be rejected because they represent a departure from the religious fundamentalist ideal. When I was studying esotericism, Guenon and Schuon's names would always come up, but I could never get into them for the above reasons.

"The proof that there is no “crisis” of the modern world as conceived by Guénon is that all high Western culture - literature, philosophy, history, science, art, etc. - has always been created against a backdrop of crises and eruptions. The philosophy of Plato and Aristotle was developed during the decline of the Greek city-states, specifically Athens; the great moment of Latin culture - Horace, Virgil, Cicero - occurred during the collapse of the Roman Republic; the intellectual greatness of the medieval world occurred during its twilight with Dante and Aquinas; the apex of modern thought with Kant and Hegel occurred amidst the French revolutionary hurricane and the Napoleonic empire; the philosophical experience of the deepest nihilism was articulated by Nietzsche and Heidegger precisely when the West seemed to have exhausted its spiritual forces. In other words - the West has always been and will always be in crisis, for this is its true providential vocation: to be the beacon of the human spirit that always rises like a phoenix from its own ashes. If there is a Western tradition, then it is this: always rising sovereign when it seems defeated. As for the “Tradition” of the traditionalist school - this tradition of well-behaved spiritual eunuchs, always afraid of the image of “decadence,” - this tradition the West never needed. Yes, we don’t need this tradition. In fact, we are and always will be against the Tradition of Guénon!" Link below 👇

@dalongo4 Did you read the essay? I explicitly say that there is a civilizational decline in the West. My criticism is that this decline is relative, not absolute as the Primordial Tradition reading proposes. I thought PhDs actually read things before criticizing...

@RHyperboreo Since this planet came about, crises have been ongoing, and the rise of civilizations only compounded their impact. But the issue is not crises but at what point does a civilization peaks and decline ensues. There is plenty of evidence of environmental and civilization decline.

You are an imbecile. Plato speaks of a community that celebrates vitality and the forms capable of elevating citizens biologically and spiritually. He does not speak of medical interventions based on bourgeois criteria of normality. Go study before talking nonsense and wasting other people’s time. If you come back here I will block you, you idiot.

The Prohibition of Cool. Everything that is cool has become forbidden in our time: holy wars, military conquests, duels, exclusive clubs, romantic love, great art... Name it: if it’s cool, then the state or public morality has made sure to ban it. One of the saddest moments of my life happened in 2014. The previous year I had lost my father and ended a romantic relationship. I fell for the lie that I needed psychiatric help. While living that therapeutic servitude and working in a leftist academic environment, I remember watching on TV scenes of first Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as ISIS warriors sweeping across the Middle East with theological fury. And I thought: in what sense does my current life resemble the life proper to a real man? How is it possible that while I have to castrate my most primal and masculine impulses, other men can channel those same impulses in the defense of their faith and tribe? What led the West to castrate its men? Simple: the prohibition of cool. Just as a wife hates the idea of her husband having fun alone or with his friends, a gynecocratic society will castrate its men and ban everything that is cool. Even if revolutions, coups d’état, and holy wars did not occur in the name of higher values and ideas, there would still remain one single reason for men to unite and accomplish such feats: because it is cool.

"Supernatural," by definition, means - that which is above the natural. Therefore, it is a complete impossibility to access the supernatural through the physical senses that exist for us to access the natural world! You don't know what you're talking about. Stop wasting my time.

By the criteria of eugenics, Nietzsche or any other morbid poet, or Van Gogh, would be seen as "incapable." What makes us human is the overcoming of our limitations. What eugenics does is eliminate the human impulse for overcoming in the name of an engineering-style medicalization of life. Eugenics is bourgeois ideological trash.

@RHyperboreo I agree that taken too far it is certainly bourgeois and it is fundamentally materialistic But I see certain appeals to it such as in the cases of disabled people and other such cases

Happiness is a moral category for slaves. A true man yearns for only one thing: dominion. Whether in war, politics, art, science, or love, a superior man wants the very substance of his personality to become the measure for other men and for an entire epoch. And for that, he is willing to sacrifice anything - comfort, prosperity, public respect, and so on. A man should never seek happiness, but rather greatness and the glory of having an entire domain of human activity subjected to the despotism of his superior personality.

@BloodMemory123 Eugenics is a form of bourgeois scientistic materialism that believes humans are nothing more than their 'genes'. Plebeian "science".

@RHyperboreo I'd agree that conservatism exists as a reaction to liberal delusion, but what is true conservatism here? The sweet spot before the purity spirals that lead back into liberalism?

If you weren't so ignorant, you would have read that I was referring to various human activities: art, science, philosophy, love, and not only the military field. I am a philosopher and I dedicate myself to my area. You are just an idiot who doesn't know how to read. Fuck you, loser 🖕

🤣 Nah, a REAL Man wants Peace, and Happiness, and he knows he has to be a Warrior to achieve, and defend those things. Don’t listened to wankers like this, they’ve never done anything for anyone other than themselves, and think they’re better than everyone else. And this clown is taking about “War”, yet he’s never served a day in uniform. He doesn’t know a damn thing about “War”.

The Great Books trend of the past 5 years has been a total catastrophe. The simple fact is that Plutarch and Homer and Virgil et al. do have radical insights buried in there, but at the same time most of these books are truly boring and lame and most people pretend to like them, cannot really digest anything, and get absolutely nothing from them! The trend is overwhelmingly powered by these books' aspirational quality; it's like a luxury heritage brand that conveniently only costs $15 a pop. The people on social media who've made brands around how great all these books are, often they are trying to *express* something about *themselves*, which is nice, but does not change how lame and boring the lion's share of these books are! You don't have to pretend to love them! If you're teaching undergrads that's great, or doing real research, fine. But this in no way means that everyone should read these books; it does not even mean that the smartest and most educated adults today need to read these books. The bits of radical alpha in them are great to find, explore, and write about if you are in the .01% of people who are called to do such things, but there is really zero reason why anybody else should read any of these books. Frankly, many of these authors are even somewhat primitive and infantile compared to the best thinkers of modernity. Plato and Aristotle have tons of provocative alpha worth getting, but also they were retarded on many topics, especially religion. The Romans were even worse in many ways. But all of this gets shrouded in the cult of Great Books. There have never been more people professing to love the Great Books, and mass public culture has never been lower brow than it is today. A ton of larping and precious little education, virtually zero novel insight, has come out of this movement.

If you weren't a complete idiot, you would have read that I am literally referring in the post to numerous areas in which a man can dedicate himself to greatness: art, literature, science, love, and not just military life. I am a philosopher and I seek greatness in my own field. You, on the other hand, are not even literate. Know your place.
