Some great advice here! I will also say I tailored my resume to the specific job I was applying to highlighting specific skills they'd be interested in. Also reach out to the recruiters directly, saying you applied and expressing interest.

It's also good to recognize that even if you can take a real break this month, it may not be anywhere near enough to recover. I know I wasn't always able to recover. The stress you're under often requires longer (esp. if you're dealing with stress from your personal life)

I'm excited to announce that I have officially left academia. I accepted a position as a researcher for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). I'm happy to share the insights I've gained from this transition process with anyone who is interested.

@PsychDocB1 I second Paul Sylvia's books, but I'd add Phrasebook for Writing Papers and Research in English by Stephen Howe. It helps you quickly recognize scientific patterns of speech.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for an undergraduate looking for a book on improving their writing? Said student is interested in pursuing graduate training in psychology and I am blanking on good books to recommend.
