@InspGadgetBlogs I recall during my service a guy was promoted to skipper on the strength of his interview where he declared himself bisexual and disabled as he claimed to suffer from dyspraxia. They couldn’t promote him quickly enough as he ticked plenty of boxes.

I know a man who pretended to be gay to get promoted to Ch Inspector. This worked for two reasons. First the force was 'under-represented' by LGBTQ+ in senior ranks. Second, they dared not fail an openly LGBTQ+ candidate. Only non-police followers will not believe this.

@v_j_freeman @grahamwettone He was also convicted, along with others, of Criminal Damage. Ironically, the maximum sentence for that offence is 10 years. Maybe the CD conviction will result in a greater sentence than the S20 offence, which is mad.

As he was acquitted of the more serious charge of GBH with intent the max sentence Corner can receive is 5yrs. It would have been life if he’d been convicted for intent. Doesn’t seem enough for shattering someone’s spine, nor does it seem sufficient to prevent recidivism.

@DWeller50261 @benonwine Unfortunately, he was convicted of the lesser Section 20 GBH charge, which only carries a maximum sentence of 5 years. However, he was also convicted of Criminal Damage, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, so he could get a decent stretch.

@benonwine Maximum sentence for GBH with intent is life. The police MUST be protected. Life should mean LIFE.
