I cannot agree on the Denver front. They have had more than enough around Joker this era. Giannis I would be somewhat inclined to agree but he has a loss to an eight seed as a 1 seed on his resume where he actively ran from the ball in crunch time of the elimination game.

Shai’s TS% plummeted in the playoffs last year. If he can demonstrate this level of play for 4 rounds, then we can have a conversation. But at the end of the day, the regular season is just that, the regular season. That’s why every year on opening weekend of the playoffs we’re so surprised at how different the game looks.

This series feels very similar to the 2020 series vs Utah. Only other time Jokic got completely dismantled in a matchup.
Bounced back in game 4 in a loss and was great the rest of the way. But that game 3 was just as bad as tonight’s.

@spainpnr Jokic had a 110 DRTG today son. & Their POA trash. L3 postseasons Jokic mins been ~ -3.5 rDRTG, if anything offense (no standstill adv creator / rim pressure guard) been the bigger problem outside '23 they also ended non play in teams quickly before just getting bullshit off

@aryh21 Like every star he needs certain players around him but can cover up other weaknesses. There’s more need for screen navigators and wing defenders. Yet his spacing at the 5 means they can get away with having a non-shooting wing/guard, and there’s also less need for playmakers

A lot of Jokic’s needs for team building lead to him sharing the floor with a lot of weak defenders which is a hit against his overall value

Jokic deserves plenty of criticism for his play on both ends. These clips — and the game — were a systemic failure. Paint touch after paint touch because of perimeter breakdowns with weak rotations behind them and a matador at the rim.
