@JuliaEColeman So you won’t condemn racism because someone called you a racist. Checks out.

Dear Senate DFL Caucus, Thank you for your letter urging us to condemn harmful rhetoric towards the Somali community. I agree: painting an entire group of people with the same brush because of the actions or origins of a few is wrong, divisive, and has no place in civil discourse. Which brings us to your own standard-bearers. Senator Omar fateh not too long ago called us "terrorists" Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate called half the country fascists, compared us to the worst mass murderers in history, and did it with a smile while campaigning right here in Minnesota. President Biden repeatedly labeled his political opponents “semi-fascists” and insisted that MAGA Republicans represent an existential threat to democracy itself. We’re still waiting for the DFL caucus to issue a similar letter to Governor Walz and President Biden asking them to condemn their own rhetoric that smears tens of millions of Americans—including your colleagues seated across the aisle—as Nazis and fascists. We’ll be happy to sign any joint statement condemning dangerous generalizations the moment you send one to your own party leadership first. Until then, we’ll assume the concern about “harmful rhetoric” is selective, situational, and reserved exclusively for when the target isn’t a Republican. We look forward to your prompt condemnation of Governor Walz’s remarks. With the same sincerity you showed me, Julia

@zacharywefel The bill had bipartisan support and then it had bipartisan opposition. The only difference is that the republicans tried to bring it back from the dead in its impassable form at the last minute as a “gotcha” they could use to paint the DFL as soft on corruption. Don’t fall for it

It’s scary when putative Democrats think police abolition, being pro-fraud, and having only half of kids reading at grade being a problem are Republican positions. As an actual Democrat, I’d never say anything so ignorant of the DFL.

@zacharywefel I’m genuinely asking: who isn’t taking it seriously? It happened. It’s being dealt with. I hear republicans screaming that no one is taking it seriously, but I see people being investigated, charged, and convicted. So I ask: who do you think is slacking?

@MPLSPoBoy Given the pushback I got from saying I want a candidate who takes fraud seriously? Are you being serious?

@MPLSPoBoy I'm accusing those who respond to my call for candidates who take fraud seriously by telling me that I align with the GOP of being pro-fraud. At some point willful blindness or indifference to fraud amounts to be pro-fraud.

@zacharywefel Fraud is absolutely a a problem, but let’s be real: if the rationale to go after our immigrant neighbors wasn’t “fraud”, it’d be something else.

@zacharywefel It’s anti DFL to accuse those in it of being “pro-fraud”. And you know - there are plenty of reasons to be anti-DFL, it’s just really weird to pick ones that aren’t true and are, in fact, Republican talking points.

@MPLSPoBoy You know that the Minnesota Tool Library is a non-profit and I get no personal benefit from it, other than being a member? It's not anti-DFL to demand the DFL lives up to our values.

@Pale_0ntologist @BullyCreative Hey man Walz lives in Ramsey county and pretty much said “I endorse Frey because he is mayor and some good things happened with housing while he was mayor”. Really riveting, impactful endorsement

In case you needed more evidence that Omar Fatah puts America last, here he is waving a foreign flag and pledging his support to Somalia. Minneapolis: You can’t let this lunatic run your city! He hates our country.

@CheyCab I respect you, but give me one reason you would vote for him. Give me one thing in the last 8 years he’s done to better our state that hasn’t put us in a massive financial hole. You own a business in this state and he has caused your rates and expenses to skyrocket.

I genuinely need to know. How do illegals actually function in this country? How do they open bank accounts? How do they own property? How do they run businesses? How do they use credit cards? How do they have cars? The amount of hoops and documentation I have to prepare to do any of these things is enormous. SS cards, Birth cirtificates, IDs, a title, registration, smog test, etc. Every time I have to do something of consequence I have a folder of documentation to prepare. How the fuck do these people operate?

@realBob_Johnson @Hogheaded11 @bumbadum14 As any independent contractor will tell you, anyone who gets a 1099 is required to pay taxes on that income, including payroll taxes. Regardless of citizenship status.

An itin gets them access to the financial system. It is very advantageous if they have children born here. That gives them acces to tax credits like the child credit. The 1099 is less for them, and more for the scumbags who hire them. They can wash their hands of responsibility because they hired a "contractor or business" to do the work. No payroll taxes, workers comp, etc.

@jasoncomix As someone who grew up in south Minneapolis I believe Richfield should be included in a Minneapolis specific map. The cultural annexation was complete decades ago and honestly most of the population of Minneapolis has more in common with Richfield than, say, Linden Hills.
