I’m gonna say it. Community gardens are fucking stupid. It’s locked off in only certain people can go in it and it’s massive. Why isn’t this like a public park that is accessible to everybody?

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
Iran is the head of the snake for global terrorism, and through President Trump’s Operation Epic Fury, we are winning this critical fight at an even faster pace than anticipated. In response to Iran’s terrorist attacks against global energy infrastructure, the Trump Administration will continue to deploy America’s economic and military might to maximize the flow of energy to the world, strengthen global supply, and seek to ensure market stability. Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea. At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.

What did Philadelphia City Councilmember Jay Young have to say about using vacant land to create new opportunities through Turn The Key? A lot of positive things… just listen… CM Young then talks in circles trying to justify why CM Lozada won’t support this. Classic.
Next Philly Mayor 🏆@nextphlmayor

“It currently takes 12 to 16 weeks just to get a lockout date after getting a judgement.” Spoke at Philadelphia City Council today about the Safe Healthy Homes bills that were referred back to committee because of Sunshine Act violations… And 30 Turn The Key homes were transmitted… If housing is a priority for Mayor Parker and this Council, fix that broken process before adding new rules on top of it. Hold the Sheriff’s Office accountable. Do not allow CM O’Rourke to mess up the real estate industry in Philadelphia. It will only end up hurting low income renters. Turn the Key is City Council’s program. This Council passed it. The Mayor funded it through NPI and HOME. The Land Bank Board approves qualified projects that meet THEIR criteria. The affordability is set. $280,000 sale price. $185,000 to the buyer after subsidies. Up to 100% AMI. For City workers. That’s the program City Council designed and approved. What’s the outcome? $1,300 a month mortgage. Average AMI is 57%. Turn The Key is working. ZERO DISPLACEMENT. Turning vacant lots into generational wealth. This project meets every requirement. It was qualified. What’s the problem? Philadelphia City Councilmember Quetcy Lozada and COUNCILMANIC PREROGATIVE! Any member of this body could introduce this resolution today. The land is there. The money is allocated. The program exists. The only thing missing is the bill. If you say you care about affordable housing… introduce the bill. And of course I spoke up about funding SEPTA! Ride the ride. Grow Philly to 2 Milly!

My son AJ just bought a Pokémon card for $16.5 million. And yeah — I’m proud. Here’s the thing people don’t understand about that purchase. AJ has been a Pokémon collector his whole life. Stanford Business School. Serial entrepreneur. Venture capitalist. He didn’t wake up one morning and decide to spend $16.5 million on a card. He sees it as a one of one. An irreplaceable asset. And think about this — the avid Pokémon collectors are in their 30s right now. Imagine those same people in their 60s. With real money. With nostalgia. With the means to pay whatever it takes to own a piece of their childhood. The possibilities are endless. He’s building something called Treasure Trove. He’s telling me he wants to buy a T-Rex next. A Declaration of Independence. Assets that cannot be replicated. Cannot be printed. Cannot be debased. Before long he’s going to have a balance sheet full of things that are truly irreplaceable. And beyond the investment — he captured the internet. Everyone is talking about it. He arrived. That’s my boy.

@coryfromphilly @nextphlmayor I’m a developer myself. You’ve just listed a bunch of cliches about developers that don’t fit this project. A 30 home TTK project would have a budget of ~$7M. Few developers in philly have access to that capital. And even less who are qualified/want to do bussiness w Philly.

@MPullukattu @nextphlmayor Developers represent the community of people who would live in these homes. Their incentives are aligned with future residents. But developers are always cast as evil. And anyone who does support these projects are cast as shills. It is obviously hypocritical and wrong.

Why did 4 members of the Philadelphia Land Bank board vote against 30 affordable homes yesterday? Councilmanic prerogative. Andrew Goodman, Maria Gonzalez, Jenny Greenberg, & Nicholas Dema are all City Council appointees to the Board. City Council passed Turn The Key… but CM Lozada is against the project so the members of the Land Bank Board who were appointed by City Council voted against the project? Or for another reason? It makes ZERO sense… The project was qualified. IT IS A TURN THE KEY PROJECT. Affordability concerns? It meets the requirements passed by City Council… Community support? There is NOTHING that talks about the Land Bank Board not supporting a project because of community support… so that leaves councilmanic prerogative/supporting the member of City Council who showed up to fight against much needed affordable housing in the City of Philadelphia. Philadelphia City Council passed the Turn The Key program. The Land Bank has been moving vacant infill lots by approving Turn The Key projects… because in theory… IN THEORY… it should be a rubber stamp by the Land Bank Board of qualified applications… TTK is a program passed by City Council… these projects should be able to get approved and built because the money has been allocated by both City Council and the Mayor to build Turn The Key homes… so there isn’t room for vibes or opinions. The facts of the Turn The Key program are clear. $280k sale price. Up to 100% AMI. City workers. $75k subsidy. Potential for other $15k in subsidies from the City and Banks. $185k sale price to the home buyer. $1,300/month mortgage payments. EXCEPT CDCs and Nonprofits don’t like Turn The Key because the subsidy goes to the home buyer and they aren’t able to make the houses pencil. So in this case, in the 7th District, they tried to throw every reason against the wall to fight THIS specific Turn The Key project… because it was a for-profit developer who has a proven track record of building and selling Turn The Key homes in Philadelphia. CM Lozada has a problem. One MAJOR problem… actually TWO MAJOR problems for CM Lozada… she had already approved two other Turn The Key projects in the 7th District. So why wouldn’t she approve this project that meets all of the qualifications and was approved by the Land Bank Board? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 I really hope it isn’t because there is a different set of rules for for-profit developers vs CDCs/nonprofits… I really hope it has nothing to do with CM Lozada’s previous relationships with those CDCs/nonprofits… I really hope that CM Lozada is consistent with how she approves projects that are compliant with Turn The Key… CM Lozada has a decision to make. Close the 7th District to Turn The Key or approve this project and continue to work on her housing plan that has been in the works for over the last year. Process. Process. Process. ANY member of Philadelphia City Council… looking at all of the At-Large members… could introduce this resolution to build 30 homes… if you say you’re for affordable housing in Philadelphia… introduce the bill to move the land to build the homes.
Next Philly Mayor 🏆@nextphlmayor

30 Turn The Key homes approved by the Land Bank Board via a 6-4 vote for… The 30 Turn The Key homes now goes to Philadelphia City Council to approve… This is good. Approve it.

Had a conversation with Iranian President, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, to discuss the serious situation in the region. Expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and the loss of civilian lives as well as damage to civilian infrastructure. The safety and security of Indian nationals, along with the need for unhindered transit of goods and energy, remain India’s top priorities. Reiterated India’s commitment to peace and stability and urged for dialogue and diplomacy. @drpezeshkian

@MPullukattu @nextphlmayor There wasnt "community opposition". 20 some people complained. Out of tens of thousands of people in the 7th District. Tens of thousands of people either dont care, or support new affordable housing. They just didnt show up bc they arent deranged people who throw tantrums.

Philadelphia City Council should hold a public hearing with Sixers ownership. They negotiated with Mayor Parker in bad faith with the whole arena saga. Before that they built their practice facility across the river, sending jobs and tax revenue to NJ. They’re demoralizing a passionate fanbase and costing the city revenue we desperately need rn. City Council needs to turn up the heat.
