@laura_buhler I love that. I had 2 of those type of sweaters as a child/teen that my Mom made. One pink with lambs on it and one black with white dogwood flowers on it. Later my Mom made the typical Cowichan design sweaters.

As a Canadian, I just want to point out for my non-Canadian friends that this wardrobe choice was an Easter Egg. I own this exact outfit. It is a Canadian tuxedo topped with a Cowichan-style sweater. This pattern, likely from the 70s, makes it what some call a “curling sweater”— still handknit with wool, and borrowing the cowl neck and knitting style directly from Cowichan, but with new, non-Indigenous motifs. Most of these are now found in vintage shops in Kyoto and Seoul.

Im really struggling to understand the "Caroline is a secret Liberal" stuff. She was first out the gate fighting for land rights. And she's a founding member of Without Diminishment, which is one of BC's most right of centre publications. This feels like a weird astroturf.

The services provided at the DTES OPS are absolutely essential and should never be considered to be shut down. Before talk of shutting down any other OPS, much more needs to be done about expanding detox and recovery services.

FUMING RANT 🤬 MARK CARNEY SECRETE DEAL TO GIVE AWAY VANCOUVER PROPERTY LAND RIGHTS Born and raised in Burnaby. I bought my house here expecting straight-up fee simple title the kind of ownership every Canadian was promised was rock-solid. I dumped my entire life savings into it. Every overtime shift, every skipped vacation, every dollar I didn’t blow on stupid shit went straight into this place. This isn’t some investment property. This is my family’s future. My biggest asset. My retirement plan. My kids’ inheritance. And right now, February 20, 2026, the federal government quietly signed three agreements with Musqueam that recognize Aboriginal title over huge chunks of Burnaby, Vancouver, Richmond, New West the land my house sits on and they’re still keeping the full, unredacted text SECRET. No maps. No clauses. No details on what “shared decision-making” actually means for development permits, mortgages, or my goddamn property rights. Just a fluffy press release buried like it was nothing. I spend the majority of my income servicing this mortgage. Like most people in the Lower Mainland. MANY working class families don’t have a fat stock portfolio or rental empire in Vancouver because ALL their money goes towards their Mortgage Payments. MOST People in the Lower Mainlands entire net worth is tied to their houses because they believed like every other working stiff here that Canadian real estate would at least hold its value and give a fighting chance at a decent retirement. That bet just went up in smoke. This was deliberate sabotage of two million property owners. They hid the details so there wouldn’t be instant chaos because if regular people actually saw what they signed, they would be frothing at the mouth, marching down Kingsway with pitchforks. They knew it. That’s why they did the Friday afternoon dump and ghosted every journalist asking for the documents. MSM has yet to cover the story. But here’s the insane part: the secrecy itself is creating the chaos anyway. Uncertainty is poison. Banks are already getting nervous just like after the Cowichan ruling. Mortgage renewals are getting extra conditions, higher rates, or outright pauses. Appraisers are slashing comps. Developers are hitting the brakes on projects because who the hell wants to pour millions into a building when some secret “collaborative working group” might slap on new layers of red tape, consultations, or outright veto power? Developments halt. Supply dries up. Prices for the rest of us crash and regular families get crushed. EVERYONES Equity? Evaporating in real time. MEANWHILE I sit here refreshing the news like a lunatic. How the hell am I supposed to look my children in the eyes and say, “Yeah… Daddy just sat here and let this happen”? How do I explain that the government I trusted decided my life’s work, my kids’ future, was acceptable collateral in a secret nation-to-nation deal? This is the most outrageous, contemptuous, gutless thing any Canadian government has ever done in my entire life. They didn’t just betray property owners they betrayed every single person who built this region with blood, sweat, and decades of mortgage payments. Burnaby. Vancouver. Richmond. New West. Wake the fuck up. Your house is next. Your retirement is next. Your kids’ future is next. Demand the full unredacted agreements RIGHT NOW. Flood your MP. Share this until it breaks the internet. Because if we stay quiet, they win and everything we worked for disappears in the dark. I’m not sitting here anymore. Neither should you. Release the agreements. Or watch the Lower Mainland burn with rage.
