@lauriewhitwell Bringing on Konsa, Burn and leaving Saka, Eze... on the bench is a disgrace
English

@lauriewhitwell This is 100% on Tuchel. The players did everything he asked.
The problem was with the plan.
Not the players.
English

@SwedishRumble Mate let's be real for a minute, none of these journs have a clue what United do or do not want.
They have proven that with Tielemans and Santos.
English

I don’t understand how LB cannot be the second priority after CM?
🔺We have four players who can play fullback:
Shaw
Dorgu
Mazraoui
Dalot
Dorgu is coming off a serious hamstring injury. Shaw has never been healthy, and is a much better fit at CB at his current age. Mazraoui has also had his fair share of knocks. Dorgu is still very young and has looked pretty raw at LB.
🔺I really rate Harry Amass. There is a lot of talk about Thwaits, Lacey and co — but having proved that he can be a goto player for a club in the Championship and having that experience puts Amass head and shoulders above the rest in terms of readiness for the PL. That is a very tough challenge that many top young players fail to pass.
With that said — I am not sure how well Amass even fits what we need at LB?
I mean, he is great on the ball. Very tidy. But will we be able to play keep away with the ball and never defend?
🔺I would love to have an athletic monster at LB. Someone who can invert into the defensive midfield and help our CM out.
A Kyle Walker type at LB would definitely make a lot of sense. Or someone who is more like Hincapie and Calafiori at Arsenal.
As things is now — it could very well turn into a real weak area for us next season. Shaw has been available for like 40% of the games the last 8 years or whatever. If we overplay him just a little bit — he could easily be out for 6 months. That leaves us with 3, Dalot, Dorgu and Mazraoui.
I was questioning Carrick not taking off Dorgu early before he got his hamstring injury. When he plays 90 minutes and have run a lot — he looks like a hamstring injury waiting to happen. Love and behold, he got a serious one last season after just playing what 3-4 straight games.
Play those 3 a lot with little rotation — all of a sudden another one goes down. Then you only have two options which means no rotation and the risk of the two remaining also being injured is increased exponentially.
🔺Many replies to the need for a LB with a reference to Mazraoui also being able to play there. And sure, he can do that. But remember that the World Cup is a lot slower than the PL. He will be challenged a lot more at LB, be given less time. Dalot can also play LB — but gives up a penalty kick every other game he plays there.
But even so — if we are playing Mazraoui at LB, we need another RB. 100%. You need 4 full backs who can be expected to carry a heavy load to survive playing both in the PL and the CL. Shaw is at most 0.4/1 in this context. Dorgu is maybe a 0.6. We need another full back.

🚨 Manchester United aim to make THREE MORE signings after Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow and Youri Tielemans. United want to sign: - A third midfielder - A left-winger - A forward #MUFC [@samuelluckhurst]

@Ole_is_right I'm not saying you're not allowed to earn more for doing different jobs, just that even the lowest job should be able to afford food, housing (pref their own and now some scum landlords) and have some nice things.
Yet we don't have that.
But fuck them people right?
English

@Ole_is_right And I'm not saying your life should be comparable, I'm saying that if you work you should still be able to afford nice things.
I work with autistic kids, yet get fucked over by airlines who charge you (who earns more) £500 for a flight and me £5000 because I can't go whenever.
English

I rather like this analogy, so let's play it out some more:
So, $2.60 goes into a shared pot for when someone gets sick. But, what if one child gets sick more often. He will receive more of the "shared" pot than the other. And if the healthier child sees that he is working more, while receiving less benefit, he will probably feel hard done by.
So, he might start calling in sick more frequently, to level playing field. But, the sicker child will see that the "bar" for sickness has decreased (and it's not his fault he was legitimately sick so often), so he starts calling out more too-- applying the same "bar" for sickness as his brother. Then, neither is as productive as he could be; and eventually, the money in the pot runs out because the drain is greater than the productive capacity.
But, let's say that neither is vindictive, and this isn't an issue. But, one child wants to earn more money, so he learns a new skill to negotiate a higher wage. The "shared pot" is based on percentages, not dollar contributions. So, his personal development, and negotiating skills, went to benefit this pot, despite the fact that this brother did nothing to contribute to this increased "shared" payment base.
But, the kid who is earning more will presumably get more when he is off as well (though, this is only true in some countries), so let's call it a wash-- even though, it probably won't be-- for the sake of discussion.
What if one brother is really good with his money? He saves and saves and saves, until he doesn't need the safety net anymore. He'd rather have the extra $2.60 in his pocket every payday, because he wants to buy something a little bit fun-- a new toy car, perhaps. If he cannot opt out of a system he doesn't need, those contributions are a drain, without any significant benefit. He loses freedom and flexibility to pay into a system that doesn't help him. His needs evolve, but the system does not.
This is the issue with socialism. Well, it's a starting point of the plethora of issues with socialism. But, fundamentally, in every case, the kid who is getting the worse deal, is the one who should be rewarded-- the one who doesn't call in sick; the one who saves his money well; the one who develops himself and increases his earning capacity. The incentive structure becomes inverted. You are punished, not rewarded, for your productivity and capability.

@Ole_is_right The whole supply and demand flexible pricing is a cancer.
Take school holidays, every time it's school holidays airlines whack their prices up, that should be against the law imo.
English

@Ole_is_right But the world is obsessed with growth and filling the coffers of "investors" who already have more than enough wealth.
Which just drives the price of everything up, meaning people earn less.

@simfizz @SwedishRumble The recruitment team will be the ones building the team and most likely using scouting and data to find players that skills compliment each other.
Carrick may tell them "I would like a player who can do XY&Z" and maybe tell them "I think we need more depth in CM".
English

@simfizz @SwedishRumble I think it's more what the club wants. Carrick (like Amorim) has very little influence on who we sign.
That's the whole point of a head coach, they have to work out the best way to get the best out of what they have.
Rather than the manager model who brings in what they want.
English

Honestly, I think we are listening a lot on Carrick in the midfield hunt. For me it’s clear that Baleba makes the most sense for a manager like ETH or RDZ who really isolates his No 6 in the build up. That 6 needs to be very very press resistent and strong physically with legs to cover a lot of ground. This is what makes Baleba a bit unique.
If a manager wants two sitting CMs, ie more like Keane and Scholes, I am not surprised if that manager rates Baleba much lower.
And as other already have noted — RDZ brought in Baleba to Brighton and Baleba broke through under him. Yet — despite signing two midfielders — there were never any links to Baleba. It’s not the best of looks.

@UTDNoush I think he hasn't been cut, but Brighton will probably continue to overestimate his value.
He will have to push hard if he wants the move, probably even go public.
English

I’m convinced Carlos Baleba is on Manchester United’s radar.
The problem? His last season wasn’t good enough.
If United’s recruitment team is ruthless with the data, Baleba probably gets cut.
If they’re smart enough to factor in his previous season and AFCON, then he’s still one of the best defensive midfield options available.
As for Angelo Stiller…
The numbers are elite.
But there’s no Premier League experience, he’s not an explosive runner, and it all depends on whether Carrick wants that type of profile.
If I had to pick today, I’m still looking at Baleba or Stiller.
One is a physical ball-winning monster with a dip in form.
The other is an elite controller with question marks over adaptation.
Who are you taking?

🚨 | JUST IN: #MUFC want to sign a more ‘DEFENSIVE’ player as their 3rd midfielder signing this summer. [@FabrizioRomano]
English

@HasanVaka @TheFergusonWay Isn't that only if they don't trigger the release clause? Example Fellaini, we didn't want to pay £23m in one single payment, so agreed to pay £27m in installments.
English

@TheFergusonWay Because release clauses aren’t just the value, the club needs to meet the terms of the clause i.e. payment plan, pay upfront. If Villa want whole payment and Utd want to spread it over three seasons they’d have to pay a penalty for that…doofus.
English

HOW TF WILL THE DEAL VARY IF HE HAS A RELEASE CLAUSE YOU DOOFUS??
Samuel Luckhurst@samuelluckhurst
Tielemans due to have medical tomorrow. Deal could range between £35m and £40m. #mufc

@TheFergusonWay If he has a bad start he is €40m. If he is brilliant he will be £35m 😂

@Kemonoid13 @NetflixUK Yes and if Bellingham lifts a major trophy with England then he surpasses Gazza by miles.
Gazza was brilliant, but never reached his full potential.
Bellingham can.

@UrbanWordsmith @NetflixUK I'm sure Netflix are gutted you melt 😂
