Whenever we can, my family uses reusable water bottles rather than plastic ones. This helps reduce plastic waste and keeps the environment cleaner! #apeswaste @franklinlorax

@OP507578ape @franklinlorax As we enter the summer season, due to the tilt of the earth, the Southern Hemisphere will be entering its winter season. It’s very interesting to think about!

We live in the troposphere. Weather also occurs here! It just rained a little, but I'm glad that it wasn't snow. Snow is albedo, which makes it reflective. Thanks to the tilting of the Earth, we are now starting to get warmer weather and less snow! #apesair @franklinlorax

@AT507913apes @franklinlorax Catalytic converters are super beneficial to the environment! Because we rely on car transportation so much, it’s important that there are tools that help reduce emissions

The Clean Air Act of 1970 put emissions limits on air pollutants like the ones emitted by cars. Catalytic converters help to reduce the amount of CO and NO2 emissions our cars emit. @franklinlorax #apesair

because of the extended stay at home order, our car has barely left our garage! which is good because there’s less NOx being emitted from all of the cars, including our own. @franklinlorax #apesair

Because of the stay-at-home order, I’ve been driving a lot less and biking more to keep occupied. This is a much cleaner form of transportation and helps to improve air quality! @franklinlorax #apesair

When I’m not using my phone charger, I make sure to unplug it. Even when it isn’t actively being used, keeping it plugged in is wasteful and adds up. Unplugging not only conserves energy but also helps you save money on your electrical bill @franklinlorax #apesenergy

So many important things in my house were made out of wood. There are doors, tables, etc that were made from some type of wood & the trees that were used for these play a huge role in our eco system and should be harvested with sustainability in mind #apesland @franklinlorax

I think we often underestimate how many different minerals make up rocks (like granite) and how rocks are actually very prevalent in our daily lives. It’s neat to see these examples in our own homes
Olivia Paulos@OP507578ape

As mentioned in our mining notesheet, rocks are substances made up of multiple minerals and trace organic material. Granite, as shown in this picture, contains many minerals and is a perfect example of a rock. @franklinlorax #apesland

When my parents moved to franklin, the area was very rural and there was a lot of vegetation. As land consumption increased, the number of trees began to decrease and now trees are limited @franklinlorax #apesland

My dad is a vegetarian. Consuming animal products encourages the release of methane into the environment, so my dad is definitely doing his part and reducing his ecological footprint! @franklinlorax #apespop

During the summer, my family and I plant fruits/veggies! By growing our own food, we are able to spend less on GMO based products, which can cause health issues and have many other pros. We also are able to consume healthy carbs, which gives us energy! @franklinlorax #apespop

@AT507913apes @franklinlorax This is a small, yet super efficient and easy way to reduce our ecological footprint! We wouldn’t have to change a big part of our lifestyle to make these choices

One way to reduce your ecological footprint is to eat less prepackaged food and eat more locally grown food! @franklinlorax #apespop
