@JoelMCurzon There are zero witnesses to Genghis Khana death however, it’s in many historical books and believed.
Can you find me a group of men who literally dedicated a lifetime to a lie knowing they would be brutally hunted and murdered for it?
English

I made my own version of this graphic that is a little more honest.

Arch Stanton@ArchTheAtheist
This is immoral
English

@ArchTheAtheist I have. Look again at the symbols. They spell TOXIC.
English

@ArchTheAtheist Bill Gothard would be disappointed in you.
English

@PAHoyeck Sure. But if the meaning you extract from other's words does match their meaning, or if the meaning others extract from your words does not match the meaning you intend, then you're never going to be able to work together to accomplish goals.
English

@Askwhyisit What I want to know is how the author knew what Jesus prayed if he went off by himself. The author also knew what Pilate was thinking in his head.
English

Why did Christ, being one and the same as God, pray to himself?
Against Atheism@AgainstAtheismX
Why did Christ seek the lonely places to pray?
English

@PAHoyeck Is this a problem that lies with the receiver of the message? Or the sender? My argument is that if most people are misunderstanding you in the same way, maybe the problem is that you really are serving salad and not the five course meal you think you are serving.
English

@CreationMuseum Because God only created one woman for Adam?
Then his sons had more wives, then their sons even more.
Where did the wives come from?
English

@ScottABogert @McClureShawn We have non-eye witnesses writing narratives about eyewitnesses in a style that many similar stories were written, most of which have been discarded even by the church for theological reasons. You seem to have gotten all your early history from apologists. Sad.
English

@McClureShawn Eyewitness accounts are indeed evidence. In the US legal system, the threat of perjury is used. The Romans and others during the first century used the threat of torture and death.
English

Christians say "God DID show himself!" (Jesus), but the hard truth of the matter is this: the only thing that can be plausibly demonstrated to be true about the Christ narrative is that several ancient authors CLAIMED he was the son of God and resurrected. Claims aren't evidence.
🎯Nick🎯@SonofManwithus
People say "if God is real why doesn't he come down and show himself"? I say he did and people killed him for telling the truth!
English

@whatirllythink0 @McClureShawn That's a claim. Seems they are like armpits around here.
English

@McClureShawn Claims are evidence when the people making them willfully proclaim while facing persecution with no incentive to do so
English

@Grace_Bytes @McClureShawn If you have very low standards for evidence and a bias to prove what you already believe. Like, for example, apologists.
English

@McClureShawn There's more evidence that He rose from the dead than there is that the person who put Him to death existed...
English

@KatieGlenn_ It's inexcusable in the newspaper because there are several people's eyes who should have seen this and fixed it before print. But also, politicians should get out of the business of affirming people's religious beliefs. I suppose you could argue this is cultural. Whatever.
English

I am once again calling on politicians to check your ads and statements with someone who actively practices the religion before hitting send. 🤦🏻♀️
Greg Bluestein@bluestein
A Georgia Senate candidate’s Passover ad in this week’s Atlanta Jewish Times features challah. It’s the thought that counts, I guess. #gapol
English

@JoelMCurzon I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows. I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, a candle glows. And there's a light over at Frankenstein place. There's a light burning in the fireplace. There's a light, light in the darkness of everybody's life.
English

It *is* a bizarre thing to believe. Then again, so is the belief that an apocalyptic Jewish preacher rose from the dead 2000 years ago and flew up into the sky. I advise people to believe neither.
Jared Shult@jared_shult
The fact that Mormons believe Jesus came to America is still mind boggling to me
English

@finntrasan @JoelMCurzon I think I understand what you're saying, but I don't get how this supports the idea that a Q source is needed. It is convenient but not required. Luke could accomplish his gospel with a copy of Matthew and Mark.
English

@MSScienceWizard @JoelMCurzon Luke is the longest synoptic gospel and contains beloved parables like the lost Son and The Good Samaritan. It’s hard to think aMatthew would have seen all the Sondergut material and not wanting to use any of it.
English

@JoelMCurzon @finntrasan I don't know what Goodacre says, but Luke was clearly an accomplished writer and purports to tell a more researched and accurate account. That he would parse Mark and Matthew and place material where it best suited his purposes is not difficult to believe.
English

@finntrasan @MSScienceWizard Goodacre dispenses with this particular argument perfectly well to my satisfaction. I think Streeter badly overstates his case.
English

@Jay_see_see @CaptFligh @JoelMCurzon Not really. If the message received was not the message sent, and you have that feedback, then perhaps you are not being clear. If many people are misperceiving you in the same, wrong way, then the problem might be on your side.
English

@CaptFligh @JoelMCurzon You fundamentally misunderstood what I said. Whether it’s because you chose to or not, is beyond my concern.

English

@ShawnTrooper @WatchChad True, but I wouldn't place Jesus as one of the better moral teachers. He certainly had a few counter cultural themes, but not enough to make a top tier list.
English

Who exactly is Jesus?
Once you answer that, everything else falls into place.
If Jesus was just a good teacher, then you can quote Him. If He was just a good man, then you can respect Him. If He was just a good example, then you can admire Him.
But, if Jesus is who He claimed to be, God in the flesh, then neutrality is no longer an option. Good, moral teachers wouldn’t lie about who they are, right?
So…you can’t casually agree with God. You can’t politely disagree with God, either. You either bow to Him, or reject Him.
Who do YOU say He is?
