Will this freeze hurt my corn? It may depend on how low temps fall. The growing point of young corn plants are underground, usually insulating it. However, frost penetrating the soil can cause damage. This occurred in south MS when temps reached 26F in 2023. 🌽 #mscorn

Is your corn seed ready for planting? Seed viability varies widely based on temp, potentially greatly affecting stand. The germ % required on the tag only assesses fitness under ideal conditions. A cold germination test will show how your seed will do in adverse weather.
