Located at the foot of Mount Moroto, the facility is being developed under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities and will be the first museum in the Karamoja sub-region. The project is designed to preserve and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Karamojong people. Once completed, the museum will feature a diverse range of archaeological, ethnographic and natural history collections, including traditional tools, artefacts, fossils, and exhibitions highlighting key aspects of Karamojong life such as cattle keeping and warrior traditions. The project, being executed by Advanta Uganda Limited, is currently in its final phase, with remaining works focused on finishes. The design integrates elements of the traditional manyatta architectural style, blending cultural authenticity with modern construction standards. The Karamoja Museum is expected to play a significant role in cultural preservation, while also boosting tourism and contributing to increased revenue from both domestic and international visitors. This initiative underscores Government’s commitment to promoting Uganda’s cultural heritage and positioning Karamoja as a key destination in the country’s tourism landscape. #OpenGovUg

🚨BREAKING🚨 According to reports, Mr. Solomon Sserwanja, the celebrated investigative journalist and Executive Director of the African Centre for Investigative Journalism, is currently under surveillance by Uganda’s intelligence agencies. The monitoring follows the leakage of information alleging that he has been collaborating with foreign actors and officials from the National Unity Platform (NUP) in efforts to destabilise dictator Museveni’s government in Kampala. Sources indicate that Mr. Sserwanja’s extensive network of contacts in Germany, the United States, and among senior decision-makers in the European Union has played a key role in facilitating his advocacy activities. It is understood that these suspicions prompted security agencies to prepare for his arrest, with Dictator Museveni personally intervening to suspend the operation pending further counter-intelligence assessment of the activities reportedly being planned by Mr. Sserwanja and fellow journalist Mr. Timothy Mujuni. Subsequent inquiries reportedly revealed that the apparent rift between the two journalists stemmed from internal competition for resources and influence within their organisation. Officials of the Human Rights Network for Journalists (HRNJ), a non-governmental organisation long engaged in advocating for the rights of journalists in Uganda, are also said to be under surveillance.
