My statement on Iran.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Polycarp Cardinal Pengo. His steadfast leadership, commitment to social justice, and decades of service strengthened both the Church and the nation. Our thoughts are with the faithful and the people of Tanzania during this time of mourning.

Sustainable & eco-tourism is key to preserving nature for future generations. During my time in TZ, I’ve been inspired by places like Chumbe Island in Zanzibar, where the UK supports rare coral reefs through the Global Fund for Coral Reefs. 🇬🇧🏝️🇹🇿 #GlobalTourismResilienceDay

Honored to pay my respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice at the Commonwealth War Graves cemetery in #Iringa during my regional visit. A beautifully maintained site of peace and remembrance. They will not be forgotten.

I discussed the UK’s serious concerns over recent violence and loss of life in Tanzania with Foreign Minister Kombo. I urged security forces to show restraint and an independent, inclusive inquiry. Transparency and accountability are vital for a strong UK-Tanzania partnership.
