Every single time I talk about the benefits of breastfeeding, I get comments saying “you’re mom shaming, not everyone can produce milk.” Here’s the truth: most people who formula feed CAN produce but CHOOSE not to. Exhibit A right here. This woman refuses to breastfeed and went as far as getting a medication to purposely dry up her milk. She even goes as far as telling women to avoid doctors that try to convince you to breastfeed. Just as a reminder, breastfeeding decreases your baby’s chances of: Autism Respiratory Infections Ear Infections SIDS Asthma Childhood Obesity Eczema And so much more. It’s not a doctor’s job to validate your choices. It is their job to tell you the risks and benefits of every choice and for you to make the ultimate decision. For me personally, I want to ensure my baby has the best chance at a healthy life, so I will be giving it my all to breastfeed.

@M_22154 As for using of the word communion, *obviously* it does not refer to communion in and through Eucharist, so the reasonable conclusion and charitable reading is the Pope is not using the word in that sense, but in some more general way. Such use is quite common too.

The present moment is revealing people’s true loyalties. The pope is the spiritual father of all Catholics. In a family, even when you disagree with your father, you rally to his defense when he is attacked by an outsider. And if you don’t, there is something very wrong with you.

@cats4me21 @Johnny_Joey Catholic here: the pope is a leader, but we’ve absolutely had some bad ones. We don’t believe they’re magically closer to God or anything. I need zero mediator ever b/w myself or Christ. Only Christ is necessary. We’ve had good & bad popes. I rarely think about them.

@SowellCharles @Johnny_Joey I’m Catholic & have great respect for all Christian brethren. I want to note that what the guy OP quoted is *wrong.* It is 100% fine for me to disagree with the pope here, and on many, many other issues. Popes have spoken infallibly ~5x. Ever.

One of my most treasured inalienable rights outside of those in our US Constitution is a direct personal relationship with God the Father and His Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No pope, pontiff, priest, church or organized religion get in the way. Just me, prayer, and God’s mercy. No membership required. 🙏 ✝️🇺🇸
