It feels to me like we've become the Divided States of America. United left us some time ago. We've lost our way. My prayers are with all the families and friends of those affected by senseless violence today and the last few weeks, but sadly, we need much more than prayer.

I hope I'm wrong. But tonight feels like some sort of invisible line has been crossed that we didn't even know was there. The last time I felt like this was 9/11 when it was clear, without knowing the how and the what, that the world was about to change forever. Like the rules of the game had been permanently altered and there was simply no going to back to the innocent, peaceful past. I didn't feel like this when an attempt was made on President Trump's life. If I had to rationalise why I didn't, I guess it's because several US Presidents have been shot at and even assassinated. Somehow it was within the realms of the possible, no matter how awful. But to murder a young father simply for doing debates and mobilising young people to vote for a party that represents half of America? This is something else. Charlie's death is a tragedy for his wife, his children and his family. I don't pray often. I am praying for them tonight. But I fear his murder will be a tragedy for all of us in ways we will only understand as time unfolds. I hope I'm wrong.

Take note: Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney said nothing about the racist slaughtering of Iryna Zarutska and said nothing about the shooting of Charlie Kirk. However, he does condemn the elimination of the Islamic Jihadists Hamas leadership. Got it?

If you are unable to answer YES to all three of those fundamental questions, then sir, you have no right to represent Canadian values, nor to pretend that you understand them. And let me add three more questions just as simple: ❓ Does Hamas believe that men and women are equal? ❓ Does Hamas believe that people should be free to practice their religion; Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all others without persecution? ❓ Does Hamas believe that gays and lesbians are equal members of society? If you are unable to answer NO to all three of those questions, then again, sir, you have no right to claim that you speak for Canadian values. In that case, take that pin off your lapel and the Order of Canada insignia on a neck ribbon you received, put them in an envelope, and send them back. Canada’s highest honour belongs to those who stand clearly and unequivocally for freedom, equal rights for all citizens regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or religion, and the defeat of terrorism. P.S. Based on those very same Canadian values, you have every right to be a vocal critic of Israel. You may denounce its government, you may condemn its Prime Minister, you may disagree with its military policies, and you may challenge its treatment of Palestinians. You may accuse Israel of whatever you believe merits condemnation. That is your right in a free and democratic country, and it is a right we must all defend. But sir, those same Canadian values do not allow you to equivocate, to blur, or to remain silent on my six—very simple six—questions. On these, clarity is not optional.

I have a plug in hybrid that goes 2000 km on a tank of gas. It has an electric engine, and a gas engine when I've used up the 60km the battery gets me. I use a normal wall plug to charge it. I save $300-400 a month in fuel. Why would you fight against this amazing technology?
