EAMON DEACY joined @AVFCOfficial #AVFC from his hometown club, @GalwayRovers , after writing numerous letters to the club requesting a trial.
He was one of only 14 players used by manager Ron Saunders during the entire 1980-81 league-winning campaign, making 11 appearances to earn a winner's medal. He was also a non-playing member of the squad that won the European Cup in 1982.
He made a total of 39 appearances across all competitions for Aston Villa, scoring one goal. This included 33 league appearances.
He returned to Ireland in 1984 to play for Galway United

Evann Guessand’s goal was indicative of him at #AVFC - scruffy, ungainly but full of endeavour.
He is raw and frustrating ,but there can be no greater endorsement of a player’s potential than Unai Emery and his coaching staff continuing to pick him.

@BBCMOTD Villa's net spend since Emery took over. In that time we've had Champions league football and we came close to achieving it again last year. Great soundbite though mate, well done.

@DanRolinson And Bournemouth in 5th need 8 wins from 13 matches to get 68 PTS, also seems unlikely 🤷🏻
English

Aston Villa's hopes of a Top 5 finish are slipping away quickly, with a 10 year average suggesting 68 points (for 5th) may be required, Villa need 10 wins from 13 matches.

@M_J_Nitram Hi Martin, we are so sorry to hear this. Please can you send us a DM, so we can further discuss this.

@Pret ordered a decaf latte B'ham New St/Grnd Central. I've no idea what I'm drinking. The staff put the decaf sticker over the oat one, when she couldn't find someone who ordered a oat milk hot choc. I would have questioned it but was running for a train bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

@Alex_Berwick Ultimately all come down to rotation, the opposition and form, but...
1. McGinn, but he really protects the RB
2. Sometimes. Konsa, Torres, Mings & Digne
3. Rodgers, with Tielemans in the middle
4. Digne

Few questions for #avfc supporters.
1: Bouba is coming back into this XI when fit. Who is missing out?
2: Would you bring Mings back in? And if so, what does the back 4 look like?
3: RM is becoming an issue. Who plays there?
4: Maatsen or Digne?

In Star Wars George Lucas is literally on the record saying that the main inspiration for the rebel alliance was the Vietcong and the empire the U.S.
As for V for Vendetta, the original author Alan Moore has been quite explicit that he wrote the book as a response to Thatcherism in 1980s Britain. He was concerned about the rise of the far right and what he saw as authoritarian tendencies in the government. The Wachowskis, who then adapted it into a movie, have said their adaptation was inspired by the post-9/11 political climate (the War on Terror and its impact on civil liberties) as well as the idea of using fear as a political tool.
Lastly the Matrix is famously a metaphor for people taking "the red pill" and discovering the alienating forces of capitalism (Morpheus: "The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.")
In other words, in today's context, I'm pretty certain that Musk is very much on the opposite side of "the resistance" and he's the one (probably consciously and willfully) refusing to see it. Wild...

@Alex_Berwick Quite possible, but not many players in that lineup that I would say are strong defensively
English

Controversial statement…
#avfc XI on opening day is:
Martinez
Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne
Bailey, Barkley, McGinn, Rogers
Tielemans, Watkins.
By May well look nothing like that.
Slow evolution over the season, IMO.
English

@rajsinghchohan Obviously depending on starting 11...
1. 1v1 dribbler - Bowen/Eze/Gordon
2. Crosser - TAA /Trippier
3. Target man - Toney
4. Aggressive midfield - Gallagher/Mainoo
5. Pocket player - Palmer/Wharton
English

The 5 type of subs I want on my bench to get a goal:
1. 1v1 dribbler
2. Crosser
3. Target man
4. Aggressive midfield duel-winner to increase tempo & sustain pressure
5. Pocket player who is calm & picks the right pass
The team who are closest to fulfilling this are France with Barcola, Coman, Giroud, Kanté (when Tchou is fit to start), WZE. Their bench will change games.

52 seconds. 15 passes. 11 players. 👌
EVERY Aston Villa player touched the ball in the build-up to @DGOficial's first goal on Saturday. 🤯
