ALERT: Off-duty sheriff gets choked out by a bar patron after making an alleged unwanted advance on a 71-year-old Vietnam veteran's wife. Jason Stickels, 44, was at Merk’s Bar & Grill in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, when he allegedly drunkenly stumbled up to an elderly couple at the bar. Stickels, an off-duty Volusia County sheriff’s sergeant, approached the 71-year-old woman and can be seen seemingly trying to kiss her, which led her 77-year-old husband to intervene. Stickels then batters the man before a bystander puts him in a chokehold and takes him to the ground.
