The fact that no one in Canada can seem to agree what a "good" governor general is supposed to be like, and every governor general leaves office as some sort of unpopular failure is pretty clear evidence in my mind that the job is dumb and should be abolished.

Star Trek definitely has what we'd now call "woke" elements, and always has, but it's also a show that depicts a group of military officers serving aboard the navy ships of an expansionist, imperial-but-with-a-smile political entity. The characters are almost always very squeaky clean in their personal lives. In the entire history of Star Trek, have we seen a character cheat on a partner? Get divorced?
Fans see what they want to see.

Here’s a fun question. Is there any element of Canadian public service, and I’m describing this broadly so we can include any order of government or locale, that is appropriately sized to meet public demand?
I know that in some areas there are more schools than are needed.

Armed intruder on MRU campus. We have an emergency alert system, but it was not used! Instead a simple email with a description about an intruder. But the Calgary Police mentioned a weapon and to shelter in place.
