@xwanyex Please, can we go back to a society where rules were followed and manners were the norm.

There was a video going around today of a guy stopping some people from cutting in line at an amusement park and somebody can be heard on the video saying, “this guy is acting like he’s an authority” and it’s just like, yeah, exactly. That’s the thing. That’s the big thing. That’s the big difference. It’s 100 million people all acting like they’re the authority, because they are the authority. Because they know the rules and they’re going to make sure that you follow them. No free riders. The motto in every shitty neighborhood in the country, on the other hand, is that it ain’t your business. Mind your own business. Don’t you worry about me. You hate the Karen’s to the detriment of your society. Of course they’re annoying, sometimes. But every nice place on earth is full of people who don’t mind their own damn business, who are absolutely committed to the idea that you’re going to follow the rules, people who make that their business.
Meme Gene@ofreacharound

The thing is, almost no one except Protestant Christian and Japanese Males actually believe in “the rules must be followed impartially for society to work” There’s a huge category of people who know the rules, and how to apply them, but will drop them for their own benefit

@EchoesofEmpire_ Revolutionary War veteran Nicholas Veeder (1761-1862) from Schenectady, New York, owned this flag following the war. He carried it in early Independence Day parades and carefully preserved it as part of his collection of Revolutionary War mementos. 1/2

@EchoesofEmpire_ Oh my. What I wouldn't give to have a picture of my Patriot. Love the flag. Those are the real flags of this country.

@LeahRay44 When I was in HS we had a foreign exchange student from Czech. That’s exactly what he said. He loved the land as far you could see. Nothing new built on top of something else. Oh and to eat piggies in a blanket. 🤣

Something Americans probably don’t realise they take for granted… space. Space on the roads. Space in shops. Space in cars. Coming from the UK, it’s one of the first things you notice.

I’m not a big material possessions guy, but I am a snob about lakes. Growing up on Lake Michigan and the inland lakes of Northern MI has ruined me. I need clear turquoise water and a sandy bottom. Most US lakes are brown, murky, and full of seaweed. No thanks.

My American friends on X won't shut up about peanut butter 🥜 They put it on bread, apples, celery, and apparently even burgers?? In Japan, peanut butter exists but it's not a personality trait 😂 How deep does the peanut butter rabbit hole go? What's YOUR weird combo?

@educator4ever36 Not quite the same, but my first teaching job I was continually told how terrible the teacher before me was. So what happened to her? Teaching at a different school in the same district.🤔District Admin caught embezzling -working for the Sate Ed dept.

I gave an interview to a newspaper regarding a former teacher at my last school running for local office. He resigned in lieu of termination from my school. As I read about his years and years and years of misconduct across FOUR school districts and the amount of documentation (152 pages from one district), I am jaw dropped that this man has not once been fired and still has his teaching certificate. There is a clear pattern in every district of inappropriate behavior towards students, especially female. There is touching the back, comments on their bodies, alone in a closet with one girl, etc. And let’s not forget the sandwich in the crotch incident. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THESE FOUR DISTRICTS FIRED HIM. NOT ONE. He’s been allowed to resign and continue these same behaviors in district after district. All in Georgia. Parents - this is why you don’t want your children in public schools. The state Professional Standards Commission (after more than a decade) now has an open case on him. But how many other teachers like this are in our classrooms?

@kaorukazama Seeing wild rabbits in the U.S. isn’t rare but it’s uncommon. I saw one in my backyard the other day and it brought a smile to my face. I was also glad my cat and Shiba Inu didn’t see it, though 😅

@BlackLabelAdvsr Took my kids out to eat as babies. No devices. Books, things to draw with, little games, tic tac toe and we talked with them. Now as teens when we go out to eat they talk to us about everything and if I look at my phone they get on to me. Put in the work.

You’re ruining your kids if you give them a device at restaurants. I see this all the time in Texas ranging from babies to full blown teenagers. Headphones on, disconnected, and their brain rotting. As a parent it is your duty to protect their young minds. Do your job.

modern homes are built to require central air or window units today; otherwise, it’s nearly impossible to naturally cool them and remove humidity without structural interventions.
Chris Arsenault@Chris_Arsenault

@gregcello No reason to use electricity - create a stack-effect on one wall to pull from a vent on the other. Proper air flow modulation was something that was regularly practiced in the ancient, but has been suppressed by certain commercial interests.

@omgsidewalks Go to thrift store. Buy cheap books. Printout and glue the spine of the book you read (or just make one up) on a cheap book. Place on shelf. 🤣 Or make bookshelf poster.

Walgreens just dropped new visa sponsored roles for F1 student visa graduates. Entry level roles that should be going to American graduates. Walgreens is going out of the way to hire international grads with visa sponsorship over American grads @Walgreens #boycottWalgreens
