There were zero signs or symptoms until 5pm on Tuesday July 7th, the day after her 79th bday and within five hours my mom was pronounced dead from septic shock. The doctors and nurses are stunned and they have ordered an autopsy. My mom had an epidural steroid injection last Thursday and they want to rule that out as the cause. I am in a daze. I am in shock. No more phone calls, texts, or more importantly no more I love yous. Today, I got up at 5 to drive Jacob to Dallas for a baseball tournament. I wanted to stay in bed, grieve, and cry all day, but she would have hated that. She was ALL about her grandkids, all of the time. So I sucked it up and packed up the car. I’ve picked up my phone to call her a dozen times. This is some of the sharpest, air stealing, guttural pain I have ever felt mixed with the most inner peace of knowing she is with our Savior, holding my daughter and my sweet niece’s hand, pain free 💜💜. It has definitely been one of the hardest years of my life. I’m lucky I had a strong mom that taught me how to be so tough. She heard this song for the first time last week and my sister said she put her arms up in worship. It will be one of my favorites from here on out! music.apple.com/us/album/homes…
