In august we discharged 38 patients from our 6 beds - saving @JamesPagetNHS £133,200 and had a length of stay of just 4 days. 75% of our patients discharged straight back to their normal residences. Lets hope we can keep up the same pace throughout the winter! #WinterIsComing

@ClinicalFlow Pre planning is the way forward, after lunch pharmacists’ focus on next day EDD’s particularity our golden patients that will be discharged before 10am the next day. A good I.T. System is fundamental which pharmacy, medical and nursing teams utilise. #proudofthepaget

Well the masses have spoken, TTOs not being written is the biggest reason patient discharges are delayed. What can YOU do to combat that issue? Answers please...

thought provoking tweet. Just been to visit my 88 year old godmother admitted Wednesday, COPD exacerbation cause of admission, hip replacement 3 weeks ago, asking to mobilise, no physio so nurses won’t get her out of bed! Chest physio spoke to her can’t mobilise at weekend!

Do we too often allow a fear of risk, or an appetite for unrealistic levels of safety, block a patients attempt to remain independent? Is an 'unsafe' home environment really less preferable to an unsafe inpatient environment? #endPJparalysis #HomeFirst #AHPsIntoAction

I love this quote - please ensure we don’t consign people to a life that is safe but without meaning for them. #homefirst #WhatMattersToMe we have to find ways of supporting all our great staff to listen and support people in what they want. @ECISTNetwork

Fear of risk can lead to: ❌Over treatment, ❌Requesting of more tests, ❌Declarations of "not safe to go home" ❌Suggestions of patients "failing assessments". But whilst this can stall death, it often only results in the early end of truly living. #HomeFirst #EndPJParalysis

The hospital getting it right: @JamesPagetNHS rated “good” by watchdog CQC. Managers approachable, visible and knowledgeable. Staff cared for patients with dignity and kindness. Staffing levels and skill mix was planned and reviewed @BBCLookEast
