Thank you, @SCDCNews for stating my father's death was a suspected suicide. No one has told us this officially yet, but at least we can count on your press releases for information. All we have been told at this point is that he was found unresponsive and could not be revived.

Inmate Joe Gaillard, 64, died in his living unit at Allendale Correctional Institution Wednesday. His death is being investigated as a suspected suicide. An autopsy will be performed. Details: public.doc.state.sc.us/agency-news-pu…

I love how my mom isn’t worried about the fact I’m dating a woman. But she is worried about me having premarital sex. For context: I’ll be 37 in December and I’m asexual.

The library is the only place in American communities where anyone can go inside and sit all day. No purchase necessary. No questions asked.

@HowtoADHD When the meds are right, you want to take them, because you function and feel better. I think it’s important to talk to kids about how their meds make them feel. Just like adults, the first med isn’t always the right fit.

Thoughts on involving children in the decision making process re: meds for their #ADHD? I have my thoughts, but before I write my commentary on an upcoming research article about this I’d love to hear yours.

So if you have a co-worker who is not a chatty Kathy, please don’t take it personally if they are hesitant to engage in conversation. It’s not like you can tell that someone is neurodivergent just by looking.

I wish it was socially acceptable to put up a sign that says “I’m not being rude, but please keep conversation to essential matters only today.” Hell, even when I’m not ill, some days I just shut down socially. Every conversation is like pulling teeth.

I’m not sure if this is a ND thing or what—but I find a downside of the Very Friendly Workplace is the pressure to overshare. I’ve been sick for the past 2 weeks. Not sick enough to stay home at this point, but still coughing/sounding like crap. EVERYONE keeps asking how I am.

My "high functioning autism" is basically everyone else seeing me as "completely normal but maybe just a bit picky/particular"... while internally it's me in constant sensory overload, social overload, and fighting against my executive dysfunction to just do stuff

Queerness includes asexuality. Why? Because queerness challenges normativity. Asexuality unquestionably meets that definition. I say this as a non-ace queer person: including asexual perspectives will magnify and expand queerness. We’ll all benefit from that.

Doctors and/or pharmacists: yes, some adults struggle to swallow large pills. No, simply cutting them does not always help. Please do not be a jerk if a liquid option is requested and available.

@scretladyspider I did finally meet someone recently on Hinge (the app I’ve had the most luck with) and we’re in a good place so far. Closest I’ve come to a romantic relationship yet. To give you a time frame, I tried online dating on and off since college and I’m now 36.

@scretladyspider The ace dating apps were FULL of scammers, even more than regular apps. It didn’t take long for that to turn me off. I fell into a cycle of creating profiles, getting bored/discouraged after a month, deleting, and starting over in 6 months/a year when I felt the itch again.

Question for aces who like being in romantic relationships for a thing I’m working on: have you ever tried online dating? If so, how was it? Have you ever met a long term partner via a dating app? Do you feel online dating is inclusive of asexuality? (pls RT)
