@bruhman20meow @g_a_u_s_s_i_n_g I'd say like a 3 or 4. It's not nearly as bad as you may think. The needle is indeed massive (10 or 12 gauge I forget) but it is not that painful. Less than a lip piercing, maybe around the same pain as ear piercing.

@chris__lu Buying a Microsoft product for your company is exactly like buying an Atlassian product: only done by non-technical people and those who won't be working with the product. That or people who have never experienced anything besides Microsoft.

How many AI native companies are on the Microsoft suite of tools? If I had to guess, I'd say exactly 0.

We’ve been thinking hard about @AnthropicAI and the white-collar productivity stack. Microsoft is the 800-pound gorilla, winning with a bundling playbook for decades. We made a deck with some primary-research-backed recs on how Anthropic can beat it. Link in replies, enjoy!

@RoxCodes Not to say anywhere else is mean. I am biased, but Midwesterners have neutral US accents and have a bit of Southern sweeteness that goes a long way to defusing situations. source: double as a support engineer

@RoxCodes If you want the second, you'll likely need an engineer converting/doubling to be a support engineer. My honest take is try to find a software engineer based in or from Midwest US who reads as kind. They just need to be friendly and curious about solving problems.

@claudeai is putting in "human time" estimates into proposals. My prediction is that this is prepping us for a big price increase as they're definitely running a huge loss on inference → "Yes, this cost $1000, but Claude saved you 3-4 weeks of developer time" @bcherny yay/nay?

@thehorizon2b2t Kepler is doable, theoretically. Humans can tolerate any velocity & 4-5 easily over sustained periods, and upwards of 10 in a flight suit (record is 46g!). A Kepler rocket would need more stages and burn more, but it’s well within the energy release of current rocket fuels

As a company leader it’s important to listen to great ideas from your team. My colleagues Andrew and James imagined and prototyped the product that’s become Monumental Labs’ #1 revenue driver! They understood that high ceilings are great for creative thinking but terrible for focus. And most rooms just can’t change shape that easily. Their breakthrough: the focus stone™ A 6-inch slab of marble that matches your ceiling height to ANY task. What are customers doing with these 6+ ton stones over their heads? Let’s dive in. 🧵

Linearly separable under default sampling settings, sure. But prompt it with 'write casually, use fragments, misspell stuff' and that boundary probably collapses fast. The hard part of detection was never clean ChatGPT output, it's the edited/prompted text that sits right on the decision boundary.

Grokipedia is scaling insanely fast and getting better every single day In the last 10 days alone, Grokipedia added around ~400k articles per day, totaling over 4M, while Wikipedia added just ~500 per day—that's about 15K a month Grokipedia is one step closer to the “Encyclopedia Galactica,” rewriting how humanity captures and explores knowledge in real time

U.S. Department of Justice
U.S. Department of Justice@TheJusticeDept·
The FBI has confirmed this alleged letter from Jeffrey Epstein to Larry Nassar is FAKE. The fake letter was received by the jail, and flagged for the FBI at the time. The FBI made this conclusion based on the following facts: -The writing does not appear to match Jeffrey Epstein’s. -The letter was postmarked three days after Epstein's death out of Northern Virginia, when he was jailed in New York. -The return address did not list the jail where Epstein was held and did not include his inmate number, which is required for outgoing mail. This fake letter serves as a reminder that just because a document is released by the Department of Justice does not make the allegations or claims within the document factual. Nevertheless, the DOJ will continue to release all material required by law.

Is 16+gb/mo a normal amount of telemetry? Can you not do any local compute of “get hot” or “get cold” with a multi core processor and multiple gigabytes of memory? Can’t just repeat the previous nights settings? It’s bad enough that you slapped a $200/yr subscription on things, worse that it doesn’t work at all without internet.

The AWS outage has impacted some of our users since last night, disrupting their sleep. That is not the experience we want to provide and I want to apologize for it. We are taking two main actions: 1) We are restoring all the features as AWS comes back. All devices are currently working, with some experiencing data processing delays. 2) We are currently outage-proofing your Pod experience and we will be working tonight-24/7 until that is done. More updates soon.

Elon Musk: Earth only has about 10% of its lifespan left before becoming uninhabitable. “If Earth has been around for 4.5 billion years, which is what the fossil record suggests, then Earth only has about 10% more life in it before it gets so hot that life is impossible. It's not about just landing on Mars and doing flags and footprints. It's about creating a self-sustaining city on Mars with the fundamental fork in the road of destiny being that Mars is sufficiently self-sustaining and can grow by itself. If the resupply ships from Earth stop coming for any reason, whether that is because civilization died with a bang or a whimper, but if the resupply ships are necessary for Mars to survive, then we have not created life insurance, we've not created life insurance for life collectively. That's the key point in the future where destiny of life as we know it will forever be affected is when Mars becomes self-sustaining.” Fox News interview with Jesse Watters, May 6, 2025
