Just filled my tank. In Texas, gas is $3.99 a gallon. Hey Gavin—the problem isn’t Chevron, it’s California’s stupid energy policies….

Serious question. What is your income and location? Cause if you are seriously budgeting as well as your described, you should be able to afford a home. Don’t get me wrong, homes are extremely inflated right now, driven by boomers with 100% equity and no reason to sell for under market, but there is opportunity considering housing inventory is quite high.

You can explain to boomers that you meal prep, never eat out or get delivery, budget, have no subscriptions, and use a free phone on a cheap plan, and still can't afford a house. They will send you their awful looking potato onion chicken soup recipe, as if Google doesn't exist.

It’s not silly. Putting chicken and veggies on a roasting pan and putting it in an oven takes 10 minutes. Wiping your cutting board, knife, and putting away any spices you used takes another 10 mins. It’s not pedantic when the original poster is making a claim that cooking anything other than a sandwich or quesadilla takes MINIMUM an hour. If time is a bottleneck to you doing a bare minimum activity to keep yourself nourished, that’s a skill issue. We are talking about fucking cooking for yourself. Something humans have done for ourselves and our communities for tens of thousands of years. Complaining that it is somehow unreasonable now in modern times is simply retarded and entitled.

@Madeofdotworld @CleaningTheMess @TBerlaga Yes, the cooking takes 30 minutes. The cleaning up afterwards takes time too. That’s roughly an hour total. Why are you being so pedantic about this? This is a silly point to quibble on. “Cooking takes an hour” is almost an excepted cliche like “driving anywhere takes 20+ min.”

Because your chef's salary increased by 20%, and your waiter's salary increased by 15%, and your tip is now 20% instead of 12%. So magically, the price of your hamburger is now 3 times of what you would pay by cooking at home. And by the way, chicken didn't go up that much - if at all. And it's better for you - and also, it takes 20 minutes to make.
Carolina Lion@CarolinaLion2

Price of a pound of ground beef in 2006 was $2.70 a pound. Now its about $6.70 a pound. Tell us how exactly how cooking at home somehow magically makes the inflation in the grocery store go away?

Crazy how "You should cook for yourself sometimes and love within your means" has magically morphed into "you must suffer every waking moment of your life, even if you can comfortably afford to treat yourself every once in awhile."
Ben Karpelman@snocialism

Incredible how boomers will argue until they're blue in the face that America is the greatest country in history, but in order to succeed you must subsist like a peasant, never take a day off, never indulge in anything fun, and never feel entitled to anything.

@modelengine777 @mapleblooded This is silly considering the real literal wars that drove up oil prices were under GOP leadership. Just wait when SPR data shows how much we’ve drained to curb pump inflation during the current Iran conflict.

The young vote left, they make their own grave. Not that I don't blame Boomers that vote left too. But still, more young voted left than Boomers in 2020 and 2024, although at least by 2024 some had gained a little wisdom and it dropped by 5%. Open borders, the war on fossil fuels, and the cost of "free" healthcare will keep houses too high and their monthly bills at insane levels in perpetuity.

This is the problem with have with Boomers. It’s the denial. They all grew up and took advantage of a post war economic boom. Some weren’t successful but the majority enjoyed a higher quality of life than exists for younger generations today. And in the end all they have to show for it now is an accumulation of Air Miles and mythological tales from their past.
terry l.@dubsndoo

Boomers didn’t buy RVs that they couldn’t afford, we tented it. Boomers didn’t buy new cars, we bought used ones. Boomers didn’t spend six bucks for a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Boomers could hang all their clothes in a four foot closet. Boomers didn’t cry how tough their lives were, we fought through the tough times. Boomers have everything they have because they managed their money, didn’t squander it on frivolous things, and invested it in proven technologies and long term successful businesses. Boomers have zero fucks to give for whiners, fools, and couch potatoes.

@KeeperofReal16 @mapleblooded I’m telling you rent being less than 28% of your income for people today is infeasible. Houses and apartments adhere to modern building codes, it’s not even expectations it’s a legal realities. All things equal, the guy who could support his family on one income had it better.

I did a little edit on the March 6, 2026, video. Potentially prosaic? Yes. But I'll wait for an explanation... Full description below👇 Eight members of the U.S. House of Representatives requested access to 51 potentially UAP-related records allegedly held by the Department of War and the Intelligence Community. The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) identified a collection of responsive materials held on a classified network. Many of these materials lack a substantiated chain-of-custody. AARO assesses that this video, whose uploader-defined title is “Spherical UAP [CALLSIGN] 2021/04/12 vid 0,” is likely derived from a full-motion video camera and an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform operating within the United States Central Command area of responsibility in 2021. A user uploaded this video to a classified network in June 2024. Video Duration: 00:04:46 Video Description: 03:02-04:00: An area of contrast enters the sensor field-of-view from the upper right corner of the frame, exiting in the bottom right corner of the screen. The sensor pans to track the area of contrast, centering it within the sensor field-of-view. 04:01-04:46: The sensor changes modes as the area of contrast becomes indistinct against the background. This video description is provided for informational purposes only. Readers should not interpret any part of this description as reflecting an analytical judgment, investigative conclusion, or factual determination regarding the described event’s validity, nature, or significance.
