A 33-year-old police Constable stationed at Carolina in Mpumalanga has been arrested alongside two other suspects for dagga trafficking following an intelligence-driven operation in Groblersdal, Limpopo.
The operation was conducted by members attached to the Sekhukhune Highway Patrol on Monday, 11 May 2026, at approximately 18:00 near the Groblersdal Bus Terminal.
According to police, officers received intelligence regarding two vehicles allegedly transporting dagga en route to Musina.
The vehicles were identified as a red Audi A3 sedan and a black Audi A3.
Police tracked down the vehicles and instructed the drivers to stop. However, the suspects allegedly failed to comply, prompting a pursuit by law enforcement officers.
The vehicles were eventually intercepted and searched.
During the operation, police discovered seventeen compressed bales of dagga concealed inside the two vehicles.
Authorities indicated that the confiscated drugs will still be weighed as part of the ongoing investigation and processing of the case.
Three suspects were arrested at the scene- two men aged 33 and 36, as well as a 23-year-old woman.
One of the male suspects was identified as an active SAPS Constable attached to SAPS Carolina in Mpumalanga Province.
Following the arrests, the case docket was transferred to the Limpopo Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit, which will continue with further investigations into the alleged drug trafficking operation and any possible broader criminal links.
The three suspects are expected to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court soon on charges related to drug trafficking.
