Prediction: the most intelligent people - the best writers, artists, musicians, doctors, lawyers and engineers - will go back to doing their core work with pencil and paper, as it becomes inarguable that reliance on computers withers the brain.

What can Iran do besides blocking the Strait of Hormuz? ▪️▫️Everyone is currently discussing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as the main risk. But there is a much more serious scenario! ▪️▫️Tehran could initiate systematic destruction of the oil and gas infrastructure of the Persian Gulf countries. The logic is simple: if only the threat of major consequences can make the US slow down, then that is exactly what should be done. ▪️▫️And the closer Iran gets to the turning point, the greater its willingness to take risks. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and a number of other states, with the exception of Oman, are already perceived in Tehran as parties to the conflict. ▪️▫️Key oil fields and export terminals are within range of Iran’s short-range missiles, and in some cases even artillery from the coast. An additional factor is the presence of a Shiite population in some of these areas, creating potential for internal destabilization. ▪️▫️The worst-case scenario is that a combined missile and drone attack, together with proxy group actions, leads to the ignition of oil wells and the destruction or damage of refineries and oil terminals. ▪️▫️There is a historical precedent: in 1991, during the withdrawal from Kuwait, Iraqi troops set fire to oil fields, and it took almost a year to extinguish them. ▪️▫️If markets begin to price in this risk, Brent first, and then WTI, could easily rise well above $100 per barrel. ▪️▫️Then comes the next layer of problems. If Hormuz is effectively paralyzed for a longer period and deliveries from the region are limited, the US could theoretically impose export restrictions on its own oil and gas to maintain domestic prices before the elections. ▪️▫️In that case, Europe would find itself in an extremely vulnerable position: Russian supplies are limited or completely canceled, supplies from the Middle East are under attack, and American supplies are in question. And then the energy crisis ceases to be regional and becomes global. ©"Military Chronicle"

The Sparkle Squad is a women-led private military contractor operating out of a fully bedazzled, bubblegum-pink offshore oil rig about 40 nautical miles off the coast of West Africa, where every surface including the helipad has been hand-encrusted with over 14 million Swarovski crystals by a rotating team of artisans who all had to sign NDAs. Their arsenal includes rhinestone-studded M4 carbines, glitter-bombed flashbangs, and a fleet of hot-pink tactical vehicles that have never once successfully completed a covert operation due to being visible from low Earth orbit. All contracts are evaluated by a five-member ethics board using a single proprietary metric, "Will this make the world a little more sparkly?", which has earned them a surprisingly principled reputation in the defense sector, though a leaked UN report suggests their operational budget is almost entirely subsidized by what investigators are calling "the largest undocumented rhinestone trafficking network in the Southern Hemisphere.”
