It is admittedly a nice little resort so I’m hardly suffering except for the exhaustion. But my original flight (now delayed 24 hours because of the outage) is STILL seeing more delays. The last thing I need at this point is to spend ANOTHER 12+ hours in an airport overnight.

I’m just a little bummed because it’s my birthday this Sunday and now I’ll be arriving home on the red eye that morning and wiped out from really doing anything except maybe grabbing dinner. But I will console myself with getting to sleep for the first time in 36 hours.

Time will tell if I made the right decision, but as a veteran traveler, I decided to gamble on my hunch that this outage is going to take at least a day to truly shake out. I rebooked for my same flight the next day (2 days late now) and went to chill at a hotel.

My heart goes out to my friends at Crowdstrike but maybe a LITTLE less of it than I would give normally because I’m stuck in an airport on the opposite side of the country from where I live at 1 AM because of their auto-update 😩
