Norway is a small country that punches far above its weight internationally precisely because we have built a reputation for aid, diplomacy, and solidarity, giving us a level of influence that small countries rarely have. Our sovereign wealth fund is also heavily invested abroad across thousands of companies worldwide. As those economies grow, the value of the fund grows with them. Foreign aid can help support that development, making it not only a humanitarian effort, but also something that serves Norway’s long-term economic interests.
