Tappan Zee girls tip off at noon vs Plainedge in the @NYSPHSAA Class A Regional Final with a trip to Troy for the state final four on the line. The other 3 teams: Albany Academy Our Lady of Mercy Notre Dame 🙄

@ckh9376 @Mrsemj147761 @KDJmedia1 @NYSPHSAA @SecOneAthletics I’m talking about the people who support the framework that was floated that would keep them together for the regular season, then separate them for sectionals/state tourney, all under the NYSPHSAA umbrella. With that framework, they would still have to abide by NYSPHSAA rules

@ckh9376 @Mrsemj147761 @KDJmedia1 @NYSPHSAA @SecOneAthletics These dopes don’t understand that if they were to get separated at some point, the privates aren’t going to agree to some new division within NYSPHSAA, separate from the publics, where they still have to follow recruiting & transfer rules.

@DGratz13 @BarkleyforPrez @KyleMalzhan Maybe it varies by state, but in NYS, much of the time nobody is getting paid to run HS game and shot clocks. Been that way for decades. All volunteers, and I’ve never heard of any school having a volunteer shortage.

@BarkleyforPrez @KyleMalzhan Initial purchase and install: $3000-5000 Year to year: $40 x 26 G/B varsity games ~$1,000 Get 200 more people to games buying a $5 ticket (or just 8 more per game) and you’ve paid for your year to year.

@Coach_Runyan @BarkleyforPrez @KyleMalzhan Yeah, the same arguments have been used forever. They’re all worn out. NY has had a shot clock for decades. Guess what? There are 0 concerns about buying them, replacing them and/or getting people to run them.

@BarkleyforPrez @KyleMalzhan This is a an argument used by ppl who don’t want change. Read my post above. Once we implemented it in KS schools suddenly have the money and got them. They all find someone to operate. That’s not a real argument. All the former detractors now say “glad we have it”

It's happened again! Carle Place (boys) & William Floyd (girls) lose to NON-PUBLIC SCHOOLS in the state basketball playoffs. Carle Place lost to an Albany area charter school. Floyd lost to a Rochester private school. Something needs to be done about this. @NYSPHSAA

@NMaciariello I was waiting to see someone comment. I would ask, if winning sectionals and state titles are the ultimate goal, might we see more teams go independent?

@Siena85 @MaacTheft Someone should ask Albany County why they chose to replace the upper level seating that’s curtained off half the time, but not the regularly used lower bowl. And if the lower bowl IS getting replaced…when? 2030?

I love how much nicer the Hartford Civic Center looks as they do their renovations. Even if the bulk of it isnt for the average fan. I wish NYS and the City of Albany would do the same for the biggest arena in their capital city.

@metspats1 @Sect2BoysHoopNY Glens Falls Civic Center. The dump of a facility that Section 2 continues to use, despite being a pain in the ass for the majority of teams to get to, because the other venues are either unavailable or cost too much.

CLASS A TOP FOUR SEEDS 1. Hudson 2. Glens Falls 3. Lansingburgh 4. Averill Park Hear me out. Glens Falls loses to AA #1 seed Amsterdam. That’s it. Hudson played a schedule. I’ll give you that. Have always loved AP. Just disagree. If we don’t value winning, why are we here?

@NetsFanboy1 @Sect2BoysHoopNY I’m assuming you believe “strength of schedule” and “suburban council” are synonymous? They went 4-10 against Suburban competition, only beating the bottom feeders, only winning those games by an average of 6.25 points and losing the other 10 by an average of 17.3……

@MagicManiac68 Tough call. Politics definitely play a part. Hard to put a 16-4 (11-3) Suburban team 4, no matter how much they are reeling. Committee typically likes to protect Suburban publics. A #1 CBA vs #4 Green Tech semi assures Shaker the easier path.

Amsterdam has won 11 straight by 21.4ppg. Last loss coming Dec 20 to Shen. The two meet again today. Shen has had a rough week, eeking out a win vs Schenectady and an upset loss to Guilderland. Rams roll? 👎🏻 Expect Shen’s best. Shenendehowa 63, Amsterdam 52 ⛏ RECORD: 28-11

@Sect2BoysHoopNY 31* not 21, but point still stands. For Shen, this Amsterdam loss would mean less by virtue of their 24 point win over them in December, but Guilderland just hurts.

@Sect2BoysHoopNY So, Shen lost 69-66. There’s got to be a serious discussion at this point if Green Tech goes in as the 3 over Shen with 2 losses over Shen’s 4. GT’s Catskill loss to open the season was bad, but then they beat them by 21. Can’t lose to G’land AND Amsterdam and expect the 3.

@Siena85 @bmerzbach Also doesn’t help that they chose to replace every upper level seat first, while postponing the replacement of the lower bowl to a later date. When will that happen? No idea. But the upper bowl is closed for a majority of events there anyways so how does that even make sense.

@bmerzbach I understand it’s a county owned facility so I’d be asking the county executive why nothing has changed. I know the bathroom and concessions situations were a nightmare for the women’s ncaa tournament. But no action after.

Finally we get to see the top two SC teams face off as #1 Shaker visits #2 CBA. These teams score. Shaker has only been held under 65 points once. Expect an entertaining game. Osinski may be best on floor, but Shaker is a better team. Deeper. Shaker 72, CBA 65 ⛏ RECORD: 20-8
