What galls me is that we need to have allowances, top-ups & credits (all sounding like benevolent add ons), when, in fact, we should have decent living wages, pensions and well-functioning public services & infrastructure.

The obvious question is, why aren't state pensions sufficient to cover winter fuel bills in the first place, rendering winter fuel payments completely unnecessary?

"Pensioners this year have £900 more than they did last year" says #BarryGardiner as some sort of justification for #Labour removing the #WinterFuelPayment! FFS! The #UK has one of the lowest pensions in Europe, as the 6th largest economy in the world! #Newsnight

Is it just me.... Why does #Skynews spend air time on promo videos of how fab their varous news correspondants are. I find it very irritating. It makes the news channel seem very dated. The same goes for the weather around the globe update. Not needed. Get on with current news.
