One of the adjustments I’ve now made in Japan is going from a gas to a Weber Charcoal grill… first time failure. Couldn’t get the heat up high enough. I was able to cook my steaks but took longer. That being said I really liked the flavor using smoke and heat. Work in progress

@hizaga @HakataQueen I think unfortunately that’s happening everywhere. It’s been awful in the US. I’ll say this, I make less here than I did in the US but I really feel like my money goes further here. I’m also a homeowner here which was something I’d never be able to do in Las Vegas

Since I’ve moved to Tokyo I’ve been quite disappointed by the food quality / price ratio. I feel like a lot of prices have been adapted for foreign tourists who can pay with their USD and EUR but I don’t think I’ve eaten a single meal that I felt was fairly priced for the taste

A real official old guy moment .. my son had his last day of high school yesterday. 4 years at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts came to an end. For 4 years he played in the top jazz band there with many amazing artists and won multiple Downbeat awards. I am extremely proud of him.

@hizaga Yeah my son said he gave the school like 50K too. He’s really active in youth music in Vegas. What’s really cool is they have a piano donated that was used during Elvis’s performances in Vegas. It was sitting in some storage area at the Hilton. Even I kind of geeked out

@dadsweb67 Ha ! I have this conversation with my wife all the time about parking. We’re lucky we have a kei and a large parking area but lots of people in our neighborhood have large Volvo’s or NV300’s and tiny spots. No thanks !

@peak_mac @Karai_Dan And that’s the issue … because everything is overpriced in the US they come here and things are cheap. Even when I adjust for exchange rate an ¥1100 lunch at a noodle place is a lot cheaper than what I would pay in the US for the same thing and I don’t need to tip.

Neighborhood kids playing and leave toys all around in front of our house and in the middle of the street😂 I find it cute and endearing, they’re having a childhood and times they’ll never forget! In a few years they’ll be doing nothing but studying for exams!
