On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we light a candle in memory of the six million Jews brutally murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators. During my tenure, I had the privilege of meeting and speaking with many Holocaust survivors, in a community that is the largest per capita outside Israel. Recent waves of antisemitic hate, both here and in Israel, remind us that hatred is not just history, emphasizing that the promise of “Never Again” is one we must honor now, more than ever.

Israel stands with the Australian Jewish community. Upon returning from Israel yesterday, Ambassador @MaimonAmir’s first stop was Bondi Beach to pay respects to the 15 victims of the antisemitic shooting attack. He then visited two hospitals to meet some of the injured and their families and offer support. He conveyed condolences to Rabbi Yehoram Ulman ahead of the burial of his son-in-law, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, and met with Premier Minns to receive an update and discuss next steps to protect the Jewish community.

From Frishman Beach to Bondi Beach 🇮🇱🇦🇺 Israelis gathered in song and remembrance to honor the victims of the Bondi terrorist attack. Men, women, and children, including a Holocaust survivor, were targeted simply for celebrating their faith. 📸Reuters

At the 2025 Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition in Sydney, I met with leading Israeli defense companies showcasing cutting-edge technologies. Proud to see Israeli innovation at the forefront with @RAFAELdefense, @ElbitSystemsLtd, and @ILAerospaceIAI. Israel’s defense industry is among the best in the world.

The journey is not over yet. Until all our hostages come back, the living and the dead. They must rest in peace, we will not rest and will not reach peace without them. #BringThemHomeNow

This is a moment I, along with all of Israel, have awaited for over two years. The reunions ahead will be filled with immeasurable emotion, relief, and tears of joy. Yet their freedom does not erase the pain and trauma of captivity that will endure. Once all 48 hostages are released, our nation can begin to heal.

Today, on the day that two of my family members were brutally murdered 2 years ago, I am appalled and shocked by the abhorrent pro-Hamas graffiti seen across Melbourne. To celebrate Hamas is to celebrate rape, murder, and mutilation. Urging them to “do it again” is to endorse barbarism, to burn children, and desecrate bodies. This is not politics; it is not solidarity. Praising Hamas is praising one of the purest evils this world has to offer.

The moment time stopped: 6:29 AM, October 7th, 2023 Today, I, @MaimonAmir, light this candle in memory of the 1,200 lives lost in the atrocities of the October 7th Massacre. May this flame burn brightly in their honor and serve as a guiding light for the safe return of our 48 hostages.

29 more provocateurs from the Hamas–Sumud flotilla were deported today from Israel to Spain. The deportees are citizens of Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands. As we said, Israel is keen to have all the participants of this provocation deported as quickly as possible, but some of them deliberately chose to prolong the legal deportation process, preferring to linger in Israel. All the legal rights of the participants in this PR stunt are fully upheld. Don’t believe the fake news they are spreading.

I held a phone call earlier today with the Leader of the Opposition in Australia @sussanley. The discussion focused on the Australian Government’s decision to recognize a “Palestinian state,” the ongoing war in Gaza, and bilateral relations between Israel and Australia. I expressed our appreciation for her position opposing the Government of Australia’s recent decision and for her announcement that, should there be a change of government in Australia, this decision would be reversed. I outlined to her Israel’s objectives in the war in Gaza and the major efforts being made to enable the continued flow of humanitarian assistance under challenging conditions. I stressed that Israel is well aware of the many friends it has in Australia and distinguishes between the Government and the people of Australia. I extended an invitation to Ms. Ley to visit Israel.

In an interview with Sky News, PM Albanese said: ‘Netanyahu of course, has a view, but he doesn't speak for every Israeli.’ Prime Minister Netanyahu was democratically elected by the people of Israel, just as Mr. Albanese was by Australians. When PM Albanese recognizes a Palestinian state, does he speak for every Australian?

Where has the flag of Israel gone? Defaced, removed, and now missing, the absence of our nation’s flag from Canberra’s International Flag Display is both noticeable and unacceptable.
