President @Isaac_Herzog pays tribute to Abe Foxman, the distinguished Jewish leader and long-time head of the Anti-Defamation League, who died on Sunday:

I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Abe Foxman, a legendary leader of the Jewish people, a champion of justice and equality, and a longtime, dear friend of mine. Coming into a world at war, the Holocaust shaped Abe’s character and defined his mission: Combating antisemitism and hypocrisy, calling out racism and bias, speaking up for the Jewish people and the Jewish democratic Israel. His story, of rising from the ashes, is our story, the story of our people. Abe’s decades at the helm of the Anti-Defamation League, positioned him as a prominent, distinguished force in the American Jewish community, and a bridge between Israel and the Diaspora. He was a passionate Zionist, a humanist, and an outspoken, wise friend. The affection and the respect we had for one another, enabled us to openly discuss every challenge and every obstacle. I am so grateful for the profound conversations we shared over the years, and for the brave leadership he exemplified. I will miss Abe’s counsel and voice, and I know that his legacy and his message will live on. I send my deepest condolences to Abe’s family and loved ones. יהי זכרו ברוך.

נשיא המדינה @Isaac_Herzog נועד עם שורת מנהיגים בין-לאומיים במסגרת ביקורו הרשמי בקוסטה ריקה במסגרת ביקורו הרשמי של נשיא המדינה יצחק הרצוג בקוסטה ריקה, לרגל טקסי סיום כהונתו של הנשיא רודריגו צ׳אבס רובלס, והשבעתה של הנשיאה הנכנסת לאורה פרננדס דלגאדו - מקיים הנשיא פגישות מדיניות עם מנהיגים ובכירים מרחבי העולם המשתתפים באירועים. הפגישות נערכות במסגרת שיחות בילטרליות, פגישות רשמיות ומפגשים אישיים, וימשיכו להתקיים גם במהלך היום. בין היתר צפוי הנשיא להיפגש עם המנהיגים הבאים: נשיא קוסטה ריקה היוצא ונשיאת קוסטה ריקה הנכנסת, מלך ספרד, נשיא צ׳ילה, נשיא גואטמלה, נשיא הונדורס, נשיא פנמה, נשיא הרפובליקה הדומיניקנית, סגנית נשיא אקוודור, סגן נשיא אל סלבדור, ראש ממשלת קורסאו, ראש ממשלת ארובה, וכן שרי חוץ, שרים וראשי פרלמנטים ממדינות רבות - ובהם גם שרת המדינה מאיחוד האמירויות הערביות. זמן קצר לאחר השבעתה של נשיאת קוסטה ריקה הנכנסת, שתיערך היום, צפויה להתקיים פגישה מדינית ראשונה בינה לבין נשיא המדינה - תהא זו פגישתה הרשמית הראשונה עם כניסתה לתפקיד. קוסטה ריקה, המארחת את הביקור ואת טקס ההשבעה, נחשבת לידידה קרובה של ישראל. הנשיא היוצא והנשיאה הנכנסת מביעים לאורך השנים עמדה אוהדת כלפי ישראל בזירה הבין-לאומית ונמנים עם תומכיה. בין המדינות מתקיימים קשרי ידידות היסטוריים ושיתוף פעולה ענפים בתחומים המדיני, הכלכלי והטכנולוגי, לצד מחויבות הדדית להעמקת והמשך היחסים. במסגרת השיחות והפגישות הבילטרליות שנערכו עד כה, בלטה נכונות להידוק שיתופי הפעולה וחיזוק הקשרים עם מדינת ישראל.

President @Isaac_Herzog met with Serbian Foreign Minister @markodjuric in Jerusalem today. President Herzog expressed his deep appreciation for Serbia’s friendship and steadfast support for Israel. During their meeting, they discussed ways to continue strengthening cooperation between Israel and Serbia to the benefit of both nations.

President @Isaac_Herzog: “I am horrified by yet another violent attack on Jews in broad daylight on the streets of London. We are praying for a speedy recovery for all those injured. “Let me be clear: No Jew anywhere in the world should be a target because of their faith. In one of the great capital cities of the West, it has become dangerous to openly walk the streets as a Jew. This is an unacceptable situation. The British government and authorities must take urgent and immediate action before the next antisemitic attack occurs. “We have raised the alarm over the rise in global antisemitism again and again. It's time for the world to wake up and fight this vicious wave of Jew hatred with all possible means. We in Israel will not stay silent as our Jewish sisters and brothers are threatened and attacked around the world.”

President Herzog to Award the “Presidential Medal of Honor” to the President of Argentina Javier Milei During His Visit to Israel As the State of Israel marks 78 years of independence, President Isaac Herzog will confer the “Presidential Medal of Honor” upon the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, in recognition of his consistent and outspoken commitment to the State of Israel since assuming office in 2023. President Milei has demonstrated unwavering support for Israel on the international stage, stood alongside the families of the hostages, and has expressed a deep connection to the Jewish people and its heritage. Through his policies, he has positioned Argentina as a key ally of Israel, including through clear diplomatic and security measures reflecting a profound commitment to Israel’s security and its standing in the international community. He acts out of a deep personal commitment to the State of Israel and to the fight against antisemitism. During his visit, President Milei is due to light a torch at the official Independence Day state ceremony. The Israeli Presidential Medal will be presented by the President of Israel during the upcoming visit of the President of Argentina to Israel. The ceremony will take place at the President’s Residence. Further details will be provided in due course. The Advisory Committee to the President of Israel on the “Presidential Medal of Honor,” chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice Dr. Yoram Danziger, unanimously recommended that the President confer the Presidential Medal of Honor upon President Milei. Notice of the decision was conveyed to the President of Argentina through the Argentine Ambassador to Israel by the Director-General of the Office of the President.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Statement by President Isaac Herzog: The President accepted the recommendation and stated: “As early as the beginning of 2024, just a few months after the October 7th massacre, President Milei chose to make his first state visit as president to the State of Israel while a war was still underway. Together, we toured Kibbutz Nir Oz and together we wept at the sight of the destruction. Faced with the profound grief and trauma experienced by all of Israeli society, the President of Argentina offered courageous friendship and genuine partnership at some of the most difficult moments we have ever known. “At a time when one campaign follows another and turning one’s back on Israel has become more prevalent than ever, President Milei represents bold leadership and pursues a clear and unequivocal policy of standing with the State of Israel, as an ardent Zionist, through thick and thin. He holds a warm place in his heart for the people of Israel, and I have therefore seen fit to honor all of his efforts on our behalf.” About the Presidential Medal of Honor The Presidential Medal of Honor is awarded to those who have made an exceptional contribution to the State of Israel or to humanity through their talent, service, or other means. Upon taking office, President Isaac Herzog appointed an advisory committee, chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice Professor Yoram Danziger, to recommend suitable candidates for the Medal from time to time. Since then, the President has conferred the Medal upon prominent figures in Israel and around the world across various fields, including heads of state, key social figures from diverse sectors, and Jewish leaders in Israel and abroad. The Presidential Medal of Honor is the highest civilian decoration in the State of Israel.

נשיא המדינה יעניק לנשיא ארגנטינה בביקורו בישראל את ״עיטור הנשיא״ כהוקרה על פועלו למען מדינת ישראל. בשנת ה-78 לעצמאותה של מדינת ישראל, נשיא המדינה יצחק הרצוג, יעניק לנשיא ארגנטינה חאבייר מיליי, את ״עיטור הנשיא״, על מחויבותו העקבית והפומבית למדינת ישראל מאז כניסתו לתפקיד בשנת 2023. הנשיא מיליי מפגין תמיכה בלתי מסויגת בישראל בזירה הבינלאומית, עמד לצד משפחות החטופים ומבטא חיבור עמוק לעם היהודי ולמסורתו. במדיניותו, מיצב את ארגנטינה כבעלת ברית מרכזית של ישראל, בין היתר באמצעות צעדים מדיניים וביטחוניים ברורים המשקפים מחויבות עמוקה לביטחונה ולמעמדה הבינלאומי של מדינת ישראל. הוא פועל מתוך מחויבות אישית עמוקה לטובת מדינת ישראל ולמאבק באנטישמיות, ובמהלך ביקורו יישא משואה. העיטור יוענק על ידי נשיא המדינה במסגרת ביקורו הצפוי של נשיא ארגנטינה בישראל, הטקס יתקיים בבית הנשיא ופרטיו יימסרו בהמשך. הוועדה המייעצת לנשיא המדינה בנושא ״עיטור הנשיא״ בראשות שופט בית משפט העליון בדימוס הד״ר יורם דנציגר, המליצה פה אחד לנשיא המדינה להעניק את עיטור הנשיא לנשיא מיליי. הודעה בדבר ההחלטה נמסרה לנשיא ארגנטינה באמצעות שגריר ארגנטינה בישראל ע״י מנכ״ל בית הנשיא. נשיא המדינה קיבל את ההמלצה ואמר: ״כבר בראשית שנת 2024, חודשים אחדים לאחר טבח שמחת תורה, בחר הנשיא מיליי לערוך את ביקורו הממלכתי הראשון כנשיא, במדינת ישראל, וזאת תוך כדי מלחמה. יחד סיירנו בקיבוץ ניר עוז ויחד דמענו למראה החורבן. אל מול היגון העמוק והטראומה שחוותה החברה הישראלית כולה, הציע הנשיא הארגנטינאי חברות אמיצה ושותפות אמת, ברגעים מהקשים ביותר שידענו. כאשר מערכה רודפת מערכה והפניית גב לישראל הפכה רווחת מאי פעם, מייצג הנשיא מיליי מנהיגות נועזת ומוביל מדיניות ברורה וחד משמעית לצידה של מדינת ישראל, כציוני נלהב, באש ובמים. בליבו שמורה פינה חמה לעם בישראל, ועל כן מצאתי לנכון להוקיר את כל פועלו בעדנו״. מצ״ב מידע על ״עיטור הנשיא״: עיטור הנשיא מוענק לאלו שתרמו תרומה יוצאת דופן למדינת ישראל או לאנושות, בכישרונם, בשירותם או בדרך אחרת. עם כניסתו לתפקיד, מינה נשיא המדינה יצחק הרצוג ועדה מייעצת, בראשות שופט בית המשפט העליון בדימוס, פרופסור יורם דנציגר, במטרה שתמליץ מעת לעת על מועמדים ראויים לקבלת העיטור. מאז, העניק הנשיא את העיטור לדמויות בולטות בארץ ובעולם בתחומים שונים, בהם ראשי מדינות, דמויות מפתח חברתיות ממגזרים שונים, ומנהיגים יהודיים בארץ ובעולם. מדובר בעיטור האזרחי הגבוה ביותר במדינת ישראל.

President Herzog thanked him for his important visit and the Czech Republic’s steadfast support for the State of Israel. President Herzog expressed the importance of continuing to strengthen the historic friendship and outstanding ties between our two nations.
